That said Weardale is good value, lots of scenarios and plenty of interest. Falmouth is a nice little branchline if you want to experiment building your own steam era freeroams. WLOS again very good value. Modern & fast, lots of passenger working - GEML and maybe Wherry lines for no compromise realistic running and attention to detail. Wycombe Joint line or Temsby Port to show just how good lines that cost no money can be too and as others have said West Coast Shap is very good.
Both looking great.
Some DLCs missing on my side unfortunately.
Far and away my favourite is The Weardale and Teesdale in the '60s perhaps because I live in the area, perhaps because it was my introduction to TS, perhaps because it has the Class 101 which I drove on the Wensleydale Railway. It's not just me though- as you've noticed there are plenty of others who recommend it.
WCML (North) offers fast main line electrics and a few branches and yards to add some variety. It's not great if you like collecting points and gold stars since the Career scenarios are all flawed in some way but it's usually £5 in the sales and worth every penny.
Settle Carlisle is quite old and pretty much an end to end run but it has a good selection of stock including a couple of kettles and (like the W&T) the stark beauty of the landscape is well captured. A good one for just jumping in the cab of something and watching the scenery roll by.
Riviera in the '50s is good if you're into GW steam which I'm not particularly but now I have the Western Hydraulics pack I find it growing on me. I've not had The Woodhead Line long but it looks very promising. ECML North is downright crude by today's standards but I still wouldn't call it a dud and, if you don't already have the European UK Loco's and Assets and/or the US Loco's and Assets it's probably the cheapest way of getting them. I picked it up for £1.79 last year!
Hope this is useful.
