Screen resolution
I am unable to start Train Simulator after attempting to change the in game screen resolution and entering a resolution that the mode will not support. How do I get back into the game settings to change this if whenever I start the game up I get the message on my screen 'Mode Not Supported'?

Someone else will know this but my guess is there'll be a configuration file in your Railworks folder which you should be able to identify- it will be time-stamped to the moment you changed the screen settings. Delete that and TS should start at its default settings- you may need to run a file verify first.

I appreciate that this is a bit vague and I wouldn't blame you for a second if you decide not to try it but, FWIW, that's what I'd look for.

You can reset it back by going to Railworks\Common\Content and delete PlayerProfiles.bin It will rebuild on TS startup with default screen resolution. Exit TS first and make a back up copy.

Alternatively you can edit that file mentioned by @rwaday above ie.PlayerProfiles.bin, then you will not lose any other game settings.

1/ Download RW_Tools Full7 from this page (now freeware) - http://www.rstools.info/downloads.html

2/ Unzip and install.

3/ Run the program (RW_TOOLS)

4/ Go to the file menu and select 'Open TS2016 file' - (Ignore the fact that it says TS2016)

5/ Browse to the file mentioned above - 'Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\PlayerProfiles.bin'

6/ Once the file is open > Click 'search and replace' menu & select 'find'

7/ Search for 'ScreenResX' and click 'find', then exit the search

8/ You will now be on the correct line for your screen width, change the number to the resolution you want e.g typically 1920

9/ The next line down is your screen height i.e ScreenResY - Edit that to the resolution you want e.g typically 1080

10/ Files menu > 'Save TS2016 file'

That's it, your done .........

DemocraticPrawn: I've searched every rail sim site and, the only way I found your response, and solution, was through a google search. This worked perfectly. Thank you so much for your reply and solution.....Jack

I think file verify deletes your settings anyways, or at least in some games it does.
