Which 73 are you using? As far as the DTG version goes (Gatwick Express), there are 2 types to choose from - Diesel or Electric. If you are using the diesel version, there is no way that you will get it to move on the third rail as it is seemingly unable to switch between power modes. On the other hand, if you use the Electric version to start with, that one can change between power modes and back again as many times as one wishes. It is rather odd to say the least. I am unable to comment on other 'version' of the same class, but I wouldn't mind betting there is a similar problem there somewhere. When I created my blue re-skin of the 73, I did some tinkering with the bin file and got them both working in the same way.
