Swapping Whistle Sounds Around?
Is there a way to take whistles sounds already in the game and put them on different locos? I bought the ATN Consolidation and it has a signle note whistle but all the Youtube vids I see of it has a multichime whistle.

The single chime is the authentic Lunkenheimer hooter that this loco had in real life. However, I uploaded a three-chime whistle to the file library at Railworks America, for those who prefer a different (albeit not authentic) sound: http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/download-library/sounds-enhancements?view=document&id=2143:cnj-3-chime-whistle-for-at-n-consolidation&catid=25:sounds

I've never done this before so please be patient with me. After I download it what do you mean by unpack?

It means extract the contents of the zip file.

I went to find the package manager/utilities folder in Railworks but couldn't find it.

You need to go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks. Then double-click on Utilities.exe. When that opens, click on the "Package Manager" tab at the top.

Hmmmm, didn't see utilies. When I get home I'll go give another look. Once I get there then What? Sorry the question s, I'm a newbie to all this stuff, trying to learn.

Utilities has to be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks. It might look like just "Utilities" (without the ".exe" on the end) and the "type" as "Application".

Ah I found it. My next question is if someday I want to go back to the single note, how do I change it back to it?

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Smokebox\Consolidation and delete the folder called "Audio". Or rename it to something like Audio3Chime, so that if you want to use it again, you only have to change the name back to Audio and it'll work as before.
