Hello
I purchased this addon Loco and it is a real unique expierence, all the startup works fine, I also get the train moving, but there are 4 "gears" selectable by the leveler?
It has also 8 stages of acceleration and my main problem is slipping wheels or slow acceleration, I get only to 35 mph before the climbing starts at the feather river bridge near Oroville.
So my question is, are there speed ranges for the gears (4 stages of leveler)? Or should I let it be on stage 1, like the standard model recommends, with the standard model I get to 45 mph before the climbing passage.

I think the 4 stages that you mention is to control the amount of locos physically connected together, if your just using the one loco you are actually driving then you leave it at setting 1, if you have 2 locos coupled together then you would set it to 2, the locos behind your own loco should all be set to 1 though.

The manual explains it better though :)

I found it out by myself, I actually have a lot of fun with this loco, it is one of the best I have seen for a train simulation game, high recommended premium loco!
The trick is to set the ammount of locomotives by the selector lever and dont put advanced models in a row, 1 advanced in front and up to 3 standard behind.

After many tryout I found the perfect partner loco for the GP 20 Western Pacific, it is the SD 45 Southern Pacific.

This Loco can be coupled on the GP20 Advanced model, up to 3x and the selection lever is working fine, all 4 are running simultaneously.
At the coldstart, select 2-4 depend on the total ammount of locos, at the back console, before starting, because the SD 45 starts too, what is impressive soundwork all 4 startup in line.

They are nice locos by Reppo. I have the other Reppo GP20 Southern Pacific as well, plus the 2 marketplace liveries for the GP20 SP (Union Pacific and Burlington Northern liveries, had luckily bought the BN livery before the BNSF not selling ouside of US ban was introduced). Havent used the GP20's for a long time and had forgotten about them. Useful info on connecting the locos together Tiamat.

Ah I dont know they are produced by the same company, that explains why they fit together so good :-)
You are lucky with the BN liveries, I googled it why I cant buy Marias Pass, well Feather River Canyon and Soldier Summit in Utah are also eral nice routes.

I am not worried about BNSF.
BNSF was not produced for Maerklin, but Western Pacific trains cost more today then a complete premium set

I have the California Zephyr as kid on my table, now I have in the simulator again :-)
