Using Portals
I've recently started using bigger routes that have portals but I have no clue on how to use them but I've heard that their useful in scenario making. Any tips on how to make use of them or a point in the right direction would be great. Thanks guy/girls :)

Portals are used for getting rid of an AI train after it has passed the player train and no longer required. Doing this can reduce load on peoples computers.

All you need to do is give the AI train a "Final Destination" of the portal name and when it reaches that point it will disappear off the track.

They can also be used for "spawning" AI's but that is a bit more complicated.

Hope this helps.

Certaintly sounds useful. The area I'm using at the moment has only one portal though.

This would've been useful while making my last scenario, lol. However the vid was spot on to what I'm after so cheers mate :)

Well that's basically all that portals can or even should do :)
Just make sure that the train is spawned from the portal only when the track section is clear, otherwise it can cause problems.

I can see why. There's a portal at Conkelly but that's too close to bring long trains in. I'll probably make one further out and another outside of whitefish.

I tend to drive freeroam senarios mainly. I use portals to bring in additional trains for me to drive at various instances, as well as add a bit of realism with AI traffic.

I tend to go on YouTube, type the location in and see what trains are there. After that I'll add something similar in and swap the loco's around a tad.
