I've never bothered with their scenarios, can't say anything about that. They require a lot of payware that I don't have.
Most things on AP's website have videos showing you exactly what you're getting. You can also download the manuals to read everything there is to know.
If you're getting rolling stock or a sound mod, you'll see that there's a long list of requirements you can ignore if you're not interested in the free scenarios included with the rolling stock.
My advice would be look at your favourite route(s) and go for one or two things that will enhance those. I would definitely recommend the Lighting Effects pack either way. If you play the nighttime scenarios on Edinburgh- Glasgow for example, the difference is huge.
You get scenarios bundled in with each enhancement or loco you buy, so if you’re remotely clued up with RW Tools you can swop out stuff you don’t have for stuff you do. It’s a bit time consuming but YouTube is littered with tutorials on how to do that.
My only gripe (and this is not with AP at all) is that we, the consumer, are having to effectively pay twice to get a properly simulated train. I find that annoying, but then that is on DTG for not getting this stuff right in the first place.
ps If you haven’t got it, get Wherry Lines. It’s definitely one of the best routes out there. I went to University in Norwich & it does a cracking job of recreating the look and feel of the whole area. If you’re concerned about the payware requirements required by the AP version from their website, they made it available on Steam as an all in one purchase.
