Deity of Dispair
♥♥♥♥ this boss. Just beat him after nearly failing and raging because he destroyed half of my important cards before I was able to destroy some of his cards. Just won because I was able to minimize his deck to only 4 cards to he ran out of cards. That guy is INSANE, I wasnt able to use my rules card or anything on him too :/

Basement really is much harder, the upper floor is easy peazy in comparision.

What do you guys think, should he get a nerf? Only 6% were able to beat him :D His quote "I MAKE THE RULES HERE" was rage inducing, needs some very specific cards to destroy his card flow

Now into new adventures, made some wins with some of the card types, Nothing Card type is next, seems quite hard against these kinda bosses.

The more I think about it, I think 22 just needs a rework. You're screwed if you don't have either Sweep the Leg or Rules Card to also get yourself to 22. Those cards are so busted that they almost singlehandedly win most fights, and when an opponent does it to you there's no way to compete without having your own.

Short of just removing 22 from the game, perhaps one nerf is to allow Blackjacks to never lose. If 21 is your limit, it can tie with their 22. This would make Sweep the Leg dangerous against foes who only have 10s, but I think that's an acceptable risk you should have to have a plan B for if you're going to take such a busted card.

They also can screw you over if your opponent relies on 10s, so 20 would be benefitial for some, not said deity though :D. Nerfing it in a way that that deity for example cant screw you over because he sets the rules to 22 and does incredible amounts of damage when you dont have the card that allows to make yourself a rule, so reworking that would also make the fight a bit easier. OR just adding synergies/mechanics that let you work in a different way to get either 20/21/22 or destroy certain mechanics of bosses without relying on these 2 cards

Hmm, personally I find basement to be the easier of the 2 routes. Deity of despair (among several other matchups) demands disruption, which is something you should really have by that point. Also FWIW, 10% of players have beaten him which out of the 15% who beat dracon is 2/3 of the players who made it that far.

It says 8,7% when I look into the global stats of the game? But interesting, I find the upper floors far easier :D

I beat him first try. Lock some bad cards on him and it won't matter that he can go to 22.

So you made his deck bigger? What did you give him to counter his attacks?

Despair is stupid easy with the key card, just lock him when he inevitably busts with his 25 cost cards, in my last run I had a foil key card and took 0 damage.

personally never had any issues with despair regardless of deck, usually if you reach them then you can defeat them easily.

22 isn't that OP, you just need to build a deck that is capable of ruining the opponents strategy, despair is easily beaten with key card for example, even without key card limit breaks can force them to bust easily, just generally you need to have a way of forcing your opponent to bust with your deck, its far more important than making your own blackjacks.

Listen.. is he the hardest boss? No. But he does break the kinda player/dev social contract of "Hey these guys will have hyper specific decks but at the end of the day they are playing within the rules of the game that were set out". Then he comes out swinging with "I make the rules here" and suddenly things feel slightly cheaper

Hard or not, it's just not an enjoyable boss. If you have the right cards *and* draw them at the right time, the fight can be trivial. But if you don't you can get stuck in a match that drags on and on until he burns all your cards or even get locked in an endless tie. You basically have to build your deck specifically for this encounter and playing the same OP cards every run or rerolling a good deck because you don't have a key card is not fun.

Yea a rework for that reason would be nice, didnt visit him yet in the Beta but I built my deck specically against him when I ventured down the basement

I got a foil Library Card (or something else that copies a played card) once and copied his sweep as soon as he played it, and played it back to him the next hand, we're even on 20 max.

Whereas the top path forces you to get deck manipulation asap or die; the Bouncer is essentially impossible to beat with conventional blackjack play by design.

Library card actually borrows the card you pick. I had two foil Library Cards against the Deity of Despair in my last winning 1.0 run (i.e. I got to go first) so I was guaranteed to pull out the linchpin of their deck plus a second very good card, and after that they were busting to no effect.
