Constant Fatal Errors -4090 GPU. 14900k Processor
Hey Guys. I'm sure there are more similar threads out there to this one but I can't seem to find solution, I'm truly hoping someone out there can help me so I can play the game again.

I used to be able to run the game pretty much max everything with little to no issues at all. It seems around Mid December or so I started getting all these Fatal Error Crashes in the game. Very very random as well. Sometimes it just crashes me when around the base, when I'm out flying around, other times literally just standing still. And many times after I crash , it will back to back to back fatal error me sometimes as many as 10-15 times before I can get back in. It's so often though that it's 1. Very frustrating , but 2. I can't really go anywhere or do anything in the game anymore because I can randomly crash out of nowhere and then my tames, items, gear, etc are just out there. Making it virtually impossible to play. And it happens literally ALL the time now.

So here is the error I get the most frequently (90% of the time) --
LowLevelFatalError [File:E:\dave_WC-PURPLERAIN_NVidia\Engine\Source\Runtime\RHI\Private\PipelineStateCache.cpp] [Line: 348]
Shader compilation failures are Fatal.

LowLevelFatalError [File:E:\dave_WC-PURPLERAIN_NVidia\Engine\Source\Runtime\RenderCore\Private\ShaderResource.cpp] [Line: 726]
FShaderMapResource_InlineCode::InitRHI is unable to create a shader (frequency 3)

Crash in runnable thread Background Worker #2

And the other one I get all the time is this one ---

LowLevelFatalError [File:E:\dave_WC-PURPLERAIN_NVidia\Engine\Source\Runtime\CoreUObject\Private\UObject\UObjectArray.cpp] [Line: 235]
Attempting to add PawnInputComponent0 at index 82024 but another object (0x0000024d30be7300) exists at that index!

And the last one I get(this one is the least frequent but I do get it still )

Is the fatal error about unknown address etc etc.

For reference --

I'm running an I9-14900k processor up to 6ghz I believe.
Asus Nvidia 4090 Graphics Card. 32 GB ram and it's installed on my SSD.

Somethings I have tried so far ---
1 . Lowering various/to all settings to as low as they will go . Seemed to make absolutely no difference in how often or where I crash. Whether its on low or all on epic the crashes still appear all the time and in random spots or as I'm loading back into the game over and over. Even shutting off pretty much every optional right column thing didn't help either and the game looks like ♥♥♥♥♥ too. Still did nothing.

2. Verified integrity of files, and made sure I had latest graphics drivers.

3. Completely uninstalled game, and reinstalled from scratch.

4. Used a lot of the admin commands tinkering with it that people have thrown out in the chat in various other discussions such as the ark vertex to 1 command, disabling clouds, fog, ray tracing, lumen, etc. Using these commands everytime I logged in seem to boost FPS but had no impact or change in where or how frequently I crash.

5. I have tried disabling DLSS, Frame Gen, Nvidia Low reflex. As far as DLSS on or off, made no impact on how often I crash. In fact, sometimes it felt not only my fps was lower but i crashed more often with DLSS off?

6. I've tried running the game as an admin, no change. Still get it all the time.

7. To my knowledge I haven't had much issue with the "device Hung" fatal error but just in case I saw some people with similar fatal errors to mine use the whole RDM set to 60 commands to allow the GPu more time to respond before getting hung. Didn't work for me either.

And a few other minor things here and there i've read throughout the forums that I can't even recall anymore but those were unsuccessful as well.

In closing, when the game first came out, minus a few settings, I was pretty much able to run the game on epic all, 4k reso, and ran pretty smooth at maybe 60-75 fps.

Now, (and i don't remember which patch or the exact date) but it appears something has changed and no matter what settings I change to or the fixes I've tried listed above I can't seem to stop the above 3 fatal errors. And again, they are random and very frequent in the game. But I also get them a ton as I'm even loading into the game, as many as 10-15 times in a row just to get back in after a crash.

Sorry for this essay but I was trying to be thorough on what's happening, what I'm running, and what errors I'm constantly getting now. I know ark is ark but my wife also plays and she's just on a 2070 super, we use same settings and she has no fatal errors. I've tried to mimic those setting even and to no avail.

Please is there anyone out there that has found a fix to this? I know the game in alpha so there's always bugs and what not, but it's become unplayable now and I enjoy this game so much. I don't want to have to quit the game. Is there anyone out there that can help fix this once and for all? Please and thank you so much in advance.

Oh and sorry one other thing I tried.... I did try also rolling back to prior Graphics Drivers. I know that worked for some but that unfortunately made no change for me either.

Thanks again in advance if there is anyone out there who has solved this. You will forever be my hero.

didnt see what driver your using but try the latest studio driver from nvidia, I've barely crashed since using this. Use DDU to remove old installs. I have a 4090 w/ AMD processor but can run ulta with FG and RTX without issues. Hope this helps

This might be a stretch but my mrs has an older intel mobo and a little 3060 and has only crashed twice in a month I on the other hand with my amd 6800 crash a lot more, I was thinking about the 2 rigs and 1 difference is i have smart access memory function and her rig is to old for this maybe that has something to do with it

EDIT: I had the exact same error codes as you. I came on here to ask who tf is dave_WC- at some point last week.

If you have MSI Afterburner and RTSS installed, close them before you open ASA. Battleye hates the RTSS hook even on low level app detection.

I have two 4090s, (Zotac AMP Extreme AIRO and Gigabyte Aorus Master) with a 5800X3D and 64GB ram. Both of them played ASA smoothly for a bit and then over time started stuttering and then crashed with fatal errors if I left MSI AB and RTSS open. Sometimes fatally crashing instantly.

For more context; I tried lowering all settings, turning off all extra options including DLSS, doing regedits for Tdrdelay, enabling/disabling GSYNC/4G decoding, using one monitor instead of two, etc etc and I still got crashes until I stopped using MSI AB and RTSS.

Now I'm playing on almost all epic settings with frame gen on DLSS Quality, even with fluid and foliage interactions on, Rbar on and off, it works almost perfectly fine. Yesterday, I played for over 8 hours straight and had one crash on my Gigabyte, haven't tried using the Zotac again for ASA though.

This is all on nvidia driver 537.58 btw (I've heard a lot of 4090 owners are staying on 537.13, but 537.58 is fine for me), if you're on a 546 driver you can look at the nvidia subreddit pinned driver FAQs for many months of previous driver releases to see why you should downgrade drivers to 537.58 or 537.13 for the 40 series. Nobody with a 4090 should be using newer drivers, especially if you happen to be on Windows 11. This could explain why your wife is playing on a much older and weaker card and having no issues and you're fatally crashing constantly.

Sorry right back at you for the essay lol, I hope something here helps you.

Hey Guys thanks for responding. I tried to roll back a driver and somehow managed to mess something up big time. This computer is still very new so I had little to nothing on here besides 1-2 games. Decided to factory reset from scratch on all. Completely reset PC and then re installed ark.

Still have issues, can't even load up the game much less try to load into a server without getting that fatal error. I'm going to try and install the 537.58 driver and see if that will hopefully fix for me! *sigh/cries inside.

Will update here once I am able to do that and report my findings. Thanks for trying to help guys.

UPDATE-

I rolled back to 537.58. Made sure everything was installed correctly. Tested on multiple games, all play flawlessly, but ark now insta crashes when I try to load it up. Not even getting to load into a server anymore unfortunately.

Now sometimes It's even saying I'm out of memory even though I've got 32gb ram. Just for curiosity I had my task manager on and was tracking the graph on memory usage. It shows it going from roughly 8GB to a spike of about 10-12GB ram usage when loading but still saying I'm out of ram and force closing me.

Not sure what else to do.

I'm in a similar situation...rig is only a couple months old..i9-14900KF 3.2 Ghz w/32GB DDR5-6000Mhz RAM, GeForce RTX 4070Ti, with an ASUS Prime Z790-P MB and 1000W Power supply. ARK installed on a Samsung 990 Pro PCIe.
No reason it should be crashing like this! Able to run any other Steam game with no issues.

I notice it all went to SH!T when the recent NVIDIA Game Ready driver dropped and installed (as I'm sure most do when new drivers are released). Done the whole video drivers rollbacks, verify integrity, uninstalled/re-installed all Mods and even the game itself, dumb down video settings, tried a few tweak commands (when I could launch the game) before it crashed. Just for fun; performed the sfc /scannow and DSIM trio commands.

Interested to hear what other solutions folks have come up with.

Wildcard has pushed out a game that is just not stable and we the ARK faithful community are paying the price. :(

I was getting this error quite a bit. Turns out, exiting out the ASUS "Game First" software was causing some of the errors. I also ran the game through Geforce Experience prior, and that helped for some reason (reset some settings I guess). I was able to launch from steam after going through Geforce Experience.

Did you ever find a fix? I'm having the exact same issue. constant fatal errors, exact same ones as you. i9-14900k and a 4080 asus tuff GPU. 3/5 times opening the game it says "not enough video memory even though it has 16gb mem and i have 32gb of ram. i cant figure out if its my rig or the game. 100's fixes on you-tube and none worked for me yet. when i first got the game a week or two ago it ran perfectly no issues with mods. i stopped playing to wait for friends to acquire the game. launched it again today and constantly crashing. every 7-10 attempts i can get into the game but re-spawning crashes it and i have to go through the process of open/crash repeatedly to get back in.

I figured this out for ya'll... its an issue with unreal 5 engine... unfortunately you'll have to underclock your cpu to 96%... so reboot go to bios under cpu management/ ai tweaker... and switch your clock speed to manual and it should be default at 100 so change that to 96 and you should be golden.

You’re actually on to something but it’s not unreal engine. Intel cpus are being forced to high voltages in the bios. Even optimized default settings are cooking these

@Eddy did you ever get this working. After Scorched patches dropped I am experiencing the same issue. Had been working fine since launch.

did you fix the fсking “shader compilation fails” problem ?

You need to underclock your gpu to a point where it will stop craashing. gl
