Thanks again in advance if there is anyone out there who has solved this. You will forever be my hero.
If you have MSI Afterburner and RTSS installed, close them before you open ASA. Battleye hates the RTSS hook even on low level app detection.
I have two 4090s, (Zotac AMP Extreme AIRO and Gigabyte Aorus Master) with a 5800X3D and 64GB ram. Both of them played ASA smoothly for a bit and then over time started stuttering and then crashed with fatal errors if I left MSI AB and RTSS open. Sometimes fatally crashing instantly.
For more context; I tried lowering all settings, turning off all extra options including DLSS, doing regedits for Tdrdelay, enabling/disabling GSYNC/4G decoding, using one monitor instead of two, etc etc and I still got crashes until I stopped using MSI AB and RTSS.
Now I'm playing on almost all epic settings with frame gen on DLSS Quality, even with fluid and foliage interactions on, Rbar on and off, it works almost perfectly fine. Yesterday, I played for over 8 hours straight and had one crash on my Gigabyte, haven't tried using the Zotac again for ASA though.
This is all on nvidia driver 537.58 btw (I've heard a lot of 4090 owners are staying on 537.13, but 537.58 is fine for me), if you're on a 546 driver you can look at the nvidia subreddit pinned driver FAQs for many months of previous driver releases to see why you should downgrade drivers to 537.58 or 537.13 for the 40 series. Nobody with a 4090 should be using newer drivers, especially if you happen to be on Windows 11. This could explain why your wife is playing on a much older and weaker card and having no issues and you're fatally crashing constantly.
Sorry right back at you for the essay lol, I hope something here helps you.
Still have issues, can't even load up the game much less try to load into a server without getting that fatal error. I'm going to try and install the 537.58 driver and see if that will hopefully fix for me! *sigh/cries inside.
Will update here once I am able to do that and report my findings. Thanks for trying to help guys.
I rolled back to 537.58. Made sure everything was installed correctly. Tested on multiple games, all play flawlessly, but ark now insta crashes when I try to load it up. Not even getting to load into a server anymore unfortunately.
Now sometimes It's even saying I'm out of memory even though I've got 32gb ram. Just for curiosity I had my task manager on and was tracking the graph on memory usage. It shows it going from roughly 8GB to a spike of about 10-12GB ram usage when loading but still saying I'm out of ram and force closing me.
Not sure what else to do.
No reason it should be crashing like this! Able to run any other Steam game with no issues.
I notice it all went to SH!T when the recent NVIDIA Game Ready driver dropped and installed (as I'm sure most do when new drivers are released). Done the whole video drivers rollbacks, verify integrity, uninstalled/re-installed all Mods and even the game itself, dumb down video settings, tried a few tweak commands (when I could launch the game) before it crashed. Just for fun; performed the sfc /scannow and DSIM trio commands.
Interested to hear what other solutions folks have come up with.
Wildcard has pushed out a game that is just not stable and we the ARK faithful community are paying the price. :(
