Seperate games...
why?
Because NEW released games are more visual (a lot easier to find/notice) than DLCs
besides... DLCs? they can enver charge £40/50/60/70 for DLC ;)
Besides II ... they themselves were indeed SEPERATE GAMES ;)

this isn't the same development team as 1+2, they have to prove themselves to the THPS fans with 3+4 - this is a fickle fandom that had to deal with what Robomodo put us through... Assured quality is what we need before they try to touch THUG.
my guess is, if you read Microsoft's original press release when they bought Activision, they understood the value behind the Tony Hawk IP as they specifically mention it in their acquisition list when they had far more important (to modern gamers) IP to mention ahead of THPS. I wouldn't be surprised if this was Phil Spencer realising the sales potential from 1+2 and saying "find a studio to make 3+4" for good faith brownie points with gamers and also capitalising on the fact 1+2 was the Best Selling entry in the franchise.
Activision were idiots to merge VV into Blizzard after THPS1+2 - it's something that should've never happened.
