On the part (In basement exploration) where you pull the lever behind the painting, go behind the bathroom, and turn the wheel.... After that you should go through the door that goes into the courtyard, where the gates move to give you access. I did all this, but the gates are still blocking me from where I need to go

Go to the room with the animals on display and slide the bear to the right so you can reach the second wheel. Turning both wheels should open the gates. If not, it's a glitch.

There's two wheels to turn yeah? One in guest bathroom and one in trophy room.
