Monster spawning
Do you think the monster will stop spawning in a certain area if you keep dying like in The Dark Descent?

I was hoping they wouldn't. Perhaps if you died, like, five times they could, but I see little reason to potentially ruining a whole "level" because of one tiny mistake. Like if you accidentally slam a door into your face so that the monster catches up with you and kills you, that immediately makes the game too hard for the player, and to compensate for this, the game removes said monster. It really killed the suspense in the original game, methinks.

I only had a monster despawn on me once in the original Amnesia - the sewer monster that you distract and have to run away from when you start going down the corridor. I don't think it'll be nessecary to have despawning monsters. Amnesia has always been more about the percieved threat than the actual threat.

It was announced that in A Machine for Pigs that when you die, the monster won't go away and will appear in a different area then the last time.
Have fun!

the chinies room said the game was going to be harder than the first one and from what i gathered from all the interveies, the monsters wont stop spawning no matter how many times you die. also i think when you die your progress for the objective might reset as well.

Well, I honestly can't say I approve of the whole "objective reset"-thing, but if the monsters respawn in a random location, the game hopefully won't become as repetitive as it potentially could be if they spawned over and over in the same location.

I honestly hope that if you die like, say ten times in the same place because of monsters, that they stop spawning so you don't get frustrated and quit because of that one part.

I trust FG and TCR know what they're doing. I'm sure they have the ability to foresee something like this.

Yeah, I trust them too. But I just hope that they do something like what FG did in TDD.

What? The monsters stops spawning when you keep dying in TDD?

Huh, didn't know that.

Its more like they spawn less times.

They would be stupid if they didn't: Maybe tweak it, but not take it out completely. The reason FG did that is because they didn't want players dieing a bunch of times and rather than being scared as they are supposed to, they get frustrated. So I think they will keep that in there.

Well, they don't really "stop" spawning, but they disappear after they have killed you. I realize they most of the time respawn after you reach a certain area, though.

Well, yeah, but perhaps they could simply change the location of said monster? I don't know.

I don't really care about the specific mechanics of the game as long as it is scary, but not too difficult. One of the cool things about Amnesia is that it is quite accessible, so players of varying skill levels can all enjoy having the ♥♥♥♥ scared out of them.
