Do this review is hard one but necessary. As one purist stealth gameplay enjoyer there is two facts: can you be undeadly and fast like a shadow. Cause everything else will lose the purpose of perfection.
While I don’t have fondly memories of playing original games this one for me will be the first Thief game.
Right from the bat I did had fun time with a game. Its not perfect compared to other more fleshed out games but also its not that bad like everyone cries about it. This one may be called misunderstood child of many wrong and undelivered ideas and straight up mechanics. Like super natural flawor was greatly miss used in story bits and some might say teleportation flow or fly mechanic. Its not a science fiction for crying out loud. Abide by the rules live by the rules.
The other flaw was how small and linear world was in this game. There weren’t to many choises to go by in different directions or paths just straight up follow this path or you will not pass. Where is flexibility that allows you to feel like you are progressing by your choise and undiscovered path.
By the end of a journey this game still provided to me stealth combination. Like walking on rooftops or sneaking by severs not to get caught by the guards is always fun. Also gave more or less non killing runs like I like them the most in these type of games.
Sadly this will be probably the last game from Montreal the makers of fabulous Deus Ex. Breaks the heart knowing this that we will never see the light of these games from this studio. But we will survive in the shadows waiting for someone to emerge with light of hope. A hope that we need like Dishonored 2 or Prey or some other miracles. Stay sneaky and be prepared for those quick steps to jump us to the future. I have good feeling about it.

The map and city design bring the game down and make it a slog to get through. Gets repetitive collecting the same goods over and over and the levels feel too linear even for a stealth game.

If dishonored was a 5/10 game it would be thief 2014
Pros:
1- Side missions and vittori and Ektor missions are strongest part of this game
2- Using your equipment's like bow and arrow to solve puzzles and distract enemies
3- There is a weird charm when you exploring the city for the first time
4- Upgrades are actually really useful
Cons:
1- Millions of loading screens which hunts you in your nightmare
2- Terrible sound design and voice recording which sometimes don't match with subtitles
3- Boring story( again dishonored but worse)
4- Terrible level design of story missions( the only Interesting Main mission was chapter 5)
5- Tools like Wirecutter and Wrench SHOULD'VE NOT been part of items that you needed to buy from merchant, like this tools Should've been giving to you from start or for finishing side missions or something like that and it was a terrible design choice to place it in merchant items, not having this tools from start or early part of the game made this entire Experience tedious
6- Awful fighting mechanics
