Progress thwarted by the game, not me.
I did a couple of Basso jobs to be able to afford rope arrows. So good so far. I got as far as the TTG's with all loot (including that dodgy one beside the furnace).
I got into the duct to the TTG's room and could not exit the duct. My choices don't remove saves, so I reloaded the save. No joy. I exited the game and reloaded... equal lack of joy. Garret cannot leave the duct. he can't swoop. I tried it forward, at every angle, even backwards... Garret cannot leave the duct to get into the final room.
This is such a good game, but the devs have seriously under-tested and failed to eliminate bugs and glitches.
I'm now thinking I could do a 700+ run but on my settings, it's impossible, not due to my lack of skill, but down to thew game engine screwing up... disappointing: I was getting to look forward to the challenge.
I guess I'll never know if I was good enough, now, and that's disappointing.
The problem is around the exit of the duct where there is a small pile of something like coal... that and the fact that Garret can't swoop in this stretch of duct.
I'm guessing that at normal crouch speed the game doesn't manage to calculate that he should get stuck on this mound. At reduced speed, it does.
I gave up last night but after another 1/4 of an hour this morning and trying turning and sneaking again at different parts of the exit I finally got out.
For anyone else finding this, position Garret as far to the right as possible and at an angle of around 45 degrees, facing toward the table with the loot and food on it. In that position just fiddle with the angle Garret is trying to move for a bit until he gets through.
I hope this sort of thing isn't repeated again (:
It's average stealth game for you only, don't try to make your opinion a fact, cuz is not a fact what you say.
Thanks for the tip. sounds a lot easier than worming around until you finally get the right angle. I'll try that trick when Garret sometimes gets stuck going through gratings, too.
I'm interested in your comment about the game being 'average at best'.
Stealth games weren't my thing at all until I got into 'Dishonored'. That experience was so far removed from what I 'thought' I liked, that I started looking for stealth games. Next came Styx. After Styx was this game, except for one I can't recall. That game was good. I don't recall it getting great press, though, as most stealth games don't.
Every now and then I search for stealth games, but they are few and far between. Most that say stealth are too much of a shoot 'em up for my liking.
So it's 'average' out of a limited bunch. I have to say that I swear by 'Dishonored' and enjoyed Styx more, but I'd like to see your list of games that are above par. That could give me a good clue as to where to head next.
Btw, I think Thief 2014 is a good stealth game, but let down by its incomplete testing and sometimes fatal AI glitches.
Obviously thief gold, metal age, even deadly shadows. Chaos theory easily one of the best third person stealth games. Hitman 3 and blood money.
Some good once:
Mark of the ninja, aragami, mg5 phantom pain to an extent.
'Hail of glass', I tried once for a few minutes... couldn't hit a darned thing! It didn't seem too 'stealthy', so I rapidly gave up.
Chaos theory seems interesting. I looked at a few 'Hitman' games but they fell within my 'too much shoot 'em up' category. Maybe I need to take a fresh peek at that one.
Cheers, mate!
I gave up on that after being caught by the dogs when escaping with the architect's plans after vaulting over the table. It happened 3 times, then I got to the bit before the descent cut-scene and died for no apparent reason.
I played again with different custom settings to get the achievement.
Hats off to anyone who's done it with slowed movement on... I just don't have that level of patience.
That was the point of the title, too. Sorry if it was misleading.
