Cutscene Slowdown/Stuttering/Freezing
The game runs reasonably for me until I get to a cutscene where it freezes/stutters for the first 30 seconds and then it quickly goes haywire playing catch up. Anyone else affected by this?

Kind of, im silky smooth on max (i7 & 780ti) but cut scene twice has happand as you describe, I also get a bizarre audio screw during gameplay as well.

same here ! 40-60 fps on gtx970 i5 4670k 8gb all maxed out , but some cutscene / aparitions make me stutter and freeze for 1/5 seconds

Same here. Game is running mostly smoothly now after I updated my drivers, except for the cutscenes/ Tjhey freeze every time and take 30 seconds to chug along and finally start I've had it happen once or twice in combat as well. Running 17 2600k and 2 780s in SLI on max.

Exactly how you describe it for me, i've changed various setting and updated drivers still no results..

Same deal here, what a shame :( ah well we can always just skip alll the cutscenes and watch them on youtube as we go?
Not being sarcastic, just saying we can still kind of play but yeah its going to suck. If only they released a demo then they wouldve found this out and patched it sooner?

Turning off depth of field fixed the issue for me.

Hello everyone,

We’re working on solving issues some of you are experiencing with Dying Light.
You can help us fix them faster! Just create a Dxdiag file and send it together with your Logs files and steam profile name and topic's url
to piotr.leusz@techland.pl.

How to do it:

1. Create a Dxdiag file. Read how here: http://en.support.techland.pl/support/solutions/articles/4000042573-creating-dxdiag-file
2. Copy all your Logs files. You can find them on your computer in: My Documents\dyinglight\out\logs\
3. Attach all these files and SEND WITH YOUR STEAM PROFILE NAME AND TOPIC'S URL.
4. Send it to: piotr.leusz@techland.pl

This will help us immensely in fixing the issues you may have.

Turning off Nvidia's "Depth of Field" is the current fix for this.

Exactly the same, its smooth ingame, but when im hit by spit or any kind of QTE otherwise it stutters almost to a halt. This has cased me mucho grief.

Not really 'cutscene' but rather when you talk to an NPC or there's a QTE-- any time the depth of field narrows to the immediate foreground. GPU-Z utility actually shows gpu usage go down to 0%, so it's not that it's overloading the graphics. The graphics just stop for a few seconds.

One thing to look at is whether the game files are fragmented on your HDD. If your on SDD then move along.

I know that several of the data files for me were several thousands of fragments each. Defragmented them and things appear to happen a lot smoother now.

the freezing is due to the Depth of Field setting. turn it off and the problem is solved.
