A clarification on "Be the Zombie" mode and Steam exclusive weapon - an open FAQ

Hello every one,

We noticed that there is a bit of confusion about our "Be the Zombie" mode. This thread here is designed to clarify some of those issues.

Here are some common questions that we found, together with our answers.

1. What is the "Be the Zombie" mode?
"Be the Zombie" is a pre-order exclusive mode that allows you to play as the Night Hunter. As the Night Hunter, you are able to invade other player's game, and try to hunt them down.


2. Who can play "Be the Zombie" mode?
"Be the Zombie" mode is available to those that pre-order the game before it's launched.


3. Is "Be the Zombie" the same as multiplayer?
No. Dying Light has a 4 player multiplayer co-op available to ALL players, regardless if you pre-order or not. However, the "Be the Zombie" mode allows you to experience the multiplayer component from a different angle and perspective - you get to play as a vicious zombie, and hunt other human players down.


4. What happens when I DON'T have the "Be the Zombie" mode?
If you do not have the "Be the Zombie" mode, then you are unable to invade other players games, and play as the Night Hunter. However, you will still be able to play 4 player co-op with other players.
Keep in mind that your game can be invaded by the Night Hunters, ie those who have the "Be the Zombie".


5. What if I don't want to be invaded by a zombie?
You can disable that option within the game.


6. What is the Steam exclusive weapon?
Punk Queen is a powerful crowbar with every possible upgrade available.
Players who pre-purchase Dying Light on Steam will receive an exclusive blueprint enabling them to craft the weapon in the game.

i preordered the game but i think a preorder only GAME MODE is hillarious make it available for everyone.... its like you sell a game and say hey you can only play the end of the story if you preorder.... its just not right. preorder only game modes are a no go. you can make weapons or outfits or maybe a preorder only mega loot container... but a game mode that only pre orders can play is discriminating to players who couldnt preorder or wanted to wait for reviews

Seriously? Your pre-order bonus is something that can severely impact the gameplay for other people? That's totally ridiculous. Pre-order bonuses are usually stuff like different weapon skins or other cosmetic skins or some additional levels that can be obtained later, but you're adding a major gameplay feature that is basically something that should be part of the game for everyone and taking it away in order to get people to preorder instead of waiting for the reviews. That is really shady and an awful business tactic.

This is disgusting. I was really hyped up when i heard this game was going to feature a Souls style invasion multiplayer, but locking that off behind a preorder/paywall is not only a reprehensible and disgusting business practice, it has an impact on my potential enjoyment of the game since I won't be able to get invaded by as many players.

I really wanted to buy this game, but I absolutely cannot after hearing about this, and now I have to tell anyone who will listen also not to buy it because of this problem.

Well Uroboros is a bit of a troll, himself. Well, more of an anti-troll really.
He seems to enjoy destroying these pathetic half-assed "trolls" and he's fairly good at it, as well.
