Is this game more gpu intensive or cpu?
I am soon getting a new cpu (as the current one is terrible) but i was wondering if this would improve my fps as i currently get varying fps from 32-71 (the highest i have seen is around 120 when looking from a tower) on averge depending on which direction i look and what time of day it is with an avergae fps of about 42.

I was just wondering wether my new cpu will improve my performance.

Specs
Current CPU= A10 5800k New CPU= fx 8350
GPU= r9 270x

Settings= everything on max but without AA and AO

Thanks in advance. Not thta its important but it would be nice to see before the cpu arrives.

Generally speaking, it's more GPU-intensive (as almost all 3D games are). One slight exception is View Distance, which eats up a lot of resources for little graphicsl improvement. Turn that slider down to 0 and see if that helps things.

5800k to 8350 is a minimal upgrade/sidegrade plus you'll need an am3+ motherboard to go with the 8350 so it's a lot off $$$ to put into a cpu when it'd be better put into a vid card like the r9 290/290x or GTX980.

I've got an fx8350 4.4ghz/280x 1080p runs high textures/foliage, med shadows, VD%25 all other settings off my min fps hovers around 40 max 90+ in town and 100+ outskirts.

IMHO, you should upgrade your vid card now then contemplate an upper end i5 cpu/mobo swap at some point.

Ps, overclock the 5800k in the mean time. Also how much watts is the psu 650w+ of good quality?

Are you sure your talking about the a10 5800k from amd, my cousan has an fx 8350 and the same gpu as me (well we swapped out his 980 for my 270) and his fps per most games is on average 10 fps more than mine, especially on games like arma 3 and space engineers (my fps avg= 20, his avg 50) also if i was to get an r9 290 it would probably cause a bottle neck.

Both games you mention are cpu intensive but also need higher gpu power.

Bottleneck gets thrown around but the degree of bottlenecking rarely gets looked at, yes a 290 would be bottlenecked by the overclocked 5800k but to the point where the upgrade was pointless no.

There's countless threads on why DL is better on intel condensed version dx11 single core draw call limits

If you look at the cinebench single core results you'll get the reason why intel does better in DL and some other games. Yes my 8350 plays it fine but not as high min fps as an intel equivalent cpu but at the same token an 290/290x would also bring the min fps up but being slightly bottlenecked where an intel based cpu would give a higher min fps with the same 290.

i agree with you on the intel v amd thing but i am just not looking to spend intel amounts of money for a cpu, instead i am saving up for an r9 390/ 390x or two r9 290's depending on the price to performance ext. And i guess that if the performance is not up to scratch with my new cpu then i can always return it after a few days and wait.

On anouther note the cpu that i am getting however is apparantly going to be come much better in the future with the release of dx12 as it allows greater use of all 8 cores where as most games only use the 4, also the fx8350 has bee nshown to be better in 4k (not by much but by some) when pitted against intels higher end 4 core cpus like the i7 4770 ext.
