When do firearms start playing a part?
Roughly 10-12% into the game, just wondering when I should expect to see some firearms in the game?

You can get them anytime at random from police vans, or when you fight enemies who carry them -you find the first one before 50% of the story-. There are also quest-related stashes which contain weapons, and which respawn over time just as other lootable objects.

Firearms are mostly for use against the human enemies you encounter vs. zombies.

So, the game is still heavily melee focused since Zombies outnumber the humans 10:1 in a lot of cases. When you go up against Rai's men is when you will want pistols, shotguns and automatic rifles in close quarters (inside) combat vs. out in the street where the sound attracts fast running zombies and other nasty things :)

Why guns when you can strap a blow torch, some dozens nails and battery on your pickaxe?

Two mentions of where to find firearms ^ at the beginning of the game.

Guns are handy in some of the early challenges like the chemical warehouse and supermarket. You can use guns outside but be ready for the screamers you can manage those speed freak zombies overall though.

Firearms are not so useful in this game, as every time you make noise, you attract all the zombies around, and you summon from nowhere some other nasty zombies that you will find soon...

Otherwise, firearms are a need in some specific situations, mostly to fight groups of enemy soldiers in closed spaces ala CoD...

You can get a hidden pistol from minute one of the game (youtube)... but it will be almost useless, as it comes with just two bullets and ammo supplies will not be fairly available until you reach 25%-30% of the game.

They play a part and can be useful in many different scenarios versus various enemy types or situations. Bombers for example, they are also useful in long hallways versus humans where you dould take a lot of dammage charging them. Head shots are also insta kill for several enemies.

Guns are also currently bugged to death, damage drops after power level 5.

You don't really need any extra damage. Guns one hit any standad enemy with a headshot, and any enemy who survives a headshot is likely an enemy you don't want to be fighting with a gun anyway.

I used them for certain scenarios, generally in buildings like the school etc and safe zones cleaning..

Basically i close up the safe zone first (do this first or its never ending lol) then use pistols etc on goons (big guys with two handed bar), then i power the place up.

Good for drawing on Rais's goons at air drops so you don't have to fight them if you don't want too. They put up their hands and you can open the box just don't get to close to them. Also a good way to make them passive run up and shoot one in the head for instant kill switch to melee and go nuts. I find shooting my gun rarely attracts screamers.

It usually depends on what near or around, as with real life.
