So im sure they would blow any potential cool story expansions.
Actually i think if this game had a really solid story, it would be a classic.
Maybe with all the cash they made on this game, and i think they made a boatload, they can get a classy writing department, its really the only thing, other than amd optimization i guess, that this game really lacks.
Maybe they can redeem the biggest flaw in the game with DLC though?
Story isn't the only thing holding this game back. The crafting system is pretty poor. As in you never really need to craft anything except molotovs because in any situation you either use your gun, a melee weapon or a molotov. The other throwable/craftable weapons don't even come close to the power of the molotov. So we end up finding stacks and stacks and stacks of crafting materials but we never really do anything with them except make molotovs and the occasional medkit.
Also money is pretty useless. By pretty useless I mean 100% useless - it literally doesn't need to exist. I've never had to buy anything and I have hundreds of thousands of dollars. I find an over abundance of medkits, awesome melee weapons, guns and ammunition so I just never need to buy anything at all.
The different ways you can kill zombies is a lot of fun and it's the zombie sandbox type of gameplay that supports this game. The story, characters and crafting systems are poor. Very poor.
You said it so correctly
There will be most likely another game.
As on how the virus started, i have an unconfirmed theory.. which is long and a boring one to read unless you have a thing for biological weapons and viruses like i have..
Its Rabies
Its not lab grown. Its natural, meaning it evolved in nature in animals, everything points to this.
Why it hates UV light, why it spreads trough saliva etc.
An apartment building had a rodent problem, which they tried to get rid of and some people must have gotten bit by the rats.
The virus had several ground zeros and several forms of mutation before getting its final and deadly form.
Its spreading was slow and ineffective at first, but when nobody knew how to treat it and how to deal with it panic started to spread, military got called in and so on.
That is my theory, extremely short edition.
