In all seriousness, if it isn't redeemable in your country, you only really have two options.

1) See if you can find someone to trade the key with who has one redeemable in your country.
2) I may be wrong on this one, but as far as I know it works. You can use a VPN to make it look like you're in whatever country the game is redeemable in and download it that way.

EDIT:
Also, where did you get the key from? If you bought it from a reputable 3rd party site, they may be able to help you out and exchange the key for one valid in Australia.

Depends what kind of key you bought and where you bought it.
You should have probably read the details of the product you were purchasing before paying.

If you buy a key from a non-approved retailer, these are the risks that you take.

There are ways to redeem the key, but asking about them and discussing them here will get your thread locked.

Unfortunately this may be the case. If you purchased it from a less than trustworthy site, you may just be out of luck. Or if it says in the product description it isn't valid in your country, they are not obligated to give you a refund for it.

Since you paid what looks like full price, I'd hope like hell that you bought it through a reputible site. If not, then you've probably done your cash.

Depending on how you paid you might be able to make a claim that way. Paypal and most credit cards have provisions for doing this.

But since you paid full price, why didn't you just buy directly through Steam? Current list price is AUD$92.32 +/- transaction fees.

Call up your prime minister and demand removal of the laws which require australian versions of videogames to be different from other countrys videogames?

That makes sense. Good luck with the refund.

I know sites that sell global keys but I've always seen a disclaimer where it states what countries it's redeemable in and not before you checkout.

If you haven't recieved the keys you should be able to get a refund.
