Viral Zombies
I've been playing this game for about a week now. As far as the campaign mode, I've made it to where I need to collect a sample from a Bolter, but I'm doing more side missions. I've noticed that I'm being bombarded by the Viral Zombies, even if there isn't any loud noises to attract them. It's annoying, I spawn, and they are everywhere. I go through stamina, health packs and weapons like crazy because of them and it's getting to a point where this game isn't fun anymore. Anyone else experience this?

It's probably that damn yellow shirt the game makes you wear at the begining. I look like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ radio-active traffic cone!

In all seriousness... jumping on rooftops, landing on wooden boxes, sliding into fences, exploding plague zombies will all attract virals.

ALSO... I think that quest you are on makes the virals more sensative. It is one of the harder quests.

Congrats. But that's not the point I was making. I stated that this quest makes the viral zombies more sensitive, maybe.

Why are the steam forums filled with "It's easy because I just did it" people... especcially when its completely off topic. No more for tonight, good luck with your virals.

anyways virals are attrated by the falling Gun fire, explosions, certain traps (car one mainly),alarms, sceamers, breaking wood roofs, crates, and at times failing a jump

Thanks for the reply. I may die a billion times. You'd think if the character can do all that parkor stuff, he'd have more stamina to get away.

a tip use a distraction which any trap can be,so can fire crackers, some bombs you can make, and of couse human with guns

and argeeable on stamina part, when you get the grapple you can usally out run them

A tip for killing, aim for all but the chest ,cutting or breaking a limb is death for them, and you can get head part

As I get to higher levels I'm noticing more loose virals. Hell, I was picking a lock once and heard one climb out of a nearby manhole when I hadn't made noise for the last half an hour.

argeed,i think they spawn per X of time in high lvls

Running into one or two is fine, it's when a horde of them come after you. Or they bring more. Guess that how the game is. I need a gun, enough of this melee weapon crap

Not sure where you are in the game, but if you focus on leveling, like I did, and pack some stamina boosters, packs of virals aren't that big a deal. At my current place in the game I oneshot everything besides the heavies.

Guns just attract more of them.
Honor Guard Feb 4, 2015 @ 9:20pm
again guns attract more of them 90% of the time if your not in a building that requires loading

I actually didn't notice too many virals during that quest.

Though I did have a strange occurance once, where virals just continuously spawned in the slums just to the South-East of the tower. They just wouldn't stop. As soon as I killed one, there 2 more would pop up. I eventually stopped fighting them and just ran back to the tower and stopped playing and took a break from the game. When I came back and loaded up my save, the problem was gone and I haven't seen it since. It was really weird.

Yeah, I'm finding them everywhere, for no apparent reason. It's been happening for a while now, and it's getting worse.

When I first noticed it, sometimes I'd be picking a lock or walking around, not running or jumping or doing any kind of noise, then there would be a seemingly random explosion nowhere near my immediate vicinity, followed by their signature screaming. A few moments later they'd catch up with me, two or three of them.

First I thought that some burning zombie might have randomly stepped on a puddle of gas somewhere and blew up a car, but then why would they chase ME instead, if I'm like six blocks away from the explosion?

I can't really find a triggering pattern here, but now I'm getting five or six virals in quick sucession at times and they're spawning closer and closer, so I can even see it happening sometimes:

I'm walking down the street being sneaky as fu*k and then the manhole cover just launches in the air with a loud bang and the viral comes out of the sewers right before my eyes, screaming red murder, attracting several others.

The first few times it really freaked me out, but now it's just getting ridiculous. They are attacking me every five minutes or so.

This would be called a game design flaw, sounds like it needs to be toned down a bit so its not so cheap. Kind of like how you can look behind you and see you are in the clear then turn around to do something, then look back behind you again only a few seconds later and boom a zombie has mysteriously appeared right behind you out of F'ing no where when you JUST checked everything was clear behind you 2 seconds ago...its happening more and more at my point in the game....got to love it when game devs are cheap asses.
