do you have the same error as OP ?
Zuluknob Feb 3, 2015 @ 8:25am
.net framework, vcredist or direct x9 error(maybe some others) missing/corrupted software on your system not the games fault.

you should put this in every thread where people say the game don't work for them, it works fine for me and i guess you too, i think it is people running a cracked windows or a cracked game

You should probably educate yourself with your system specs to and then compare them to what games require in the system requirements section below every game on the store page. Most of the time and I mean it, most of the time it's the users fault for games not launching or exception errors. A lot of these newer generation kids that are wanting or trying to play PC games on their mommy and daddy's PC or even a retail computer they paid 3000 for "Alienware" and think they can run the lastest and greatest just because of the price.

This isn't related to the spate of problems Techland is having with Dying Light concerning poor framerate. This is a failure to launch application error.

Sometime the easy fix is run Windows Update and get your Windows files updated automatically.

When that doesn't work you need to make sure that you have the correct versions installed of the following:

1) install Microsoft NET Framework.

2) install Microsoft Visual C + +.

3) install DirectX(version 11 is necessary for Dying Light)

This problem happened to one of the 6 gaming PCs that I built maintain for my family when I got the same failure to launch application error on release day of Far Cry 4.

You can go to the source for these Microsoft downloads and not be concerned about viruses invading your PC. These files are needed for Windows 7 and 8.1 64bit.

Many people don't like to take risks and use posted links so just google each of the above as I describe here:

1. Go to the official Microsoft Download Center (http://www.microsoft.com/en-pk/download/)
2. Find and download Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653)
3. Find and download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-pk/download/details.aspx?id=40784)
4. Find and Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109)

Console gaming is very different than PC gaming. Console users don't have to deal with technical issues aside from having to manage updates. If you find yourself unable and/or unwilling to troubleshoot software and hardware issues yourself stop PC gaming and buy games like Dying Light and Far Cry on Xbox One or Playstation 4.

Dude, your post makes you look like an ass hat. Many people with these issues (myself included) have already tried the fix you provided, in addition to many others, and have more than capable systems to run this game. ALL 100+ games in my steam library continue to run flawlessly, and this is the only game that doesn't work, and hasn't since purchase.

Please don't assume that everyone with this issue is an idiot, because frankly, that makes you look like an idiot.

Please don't assume that everyone with this issue is an idiot, because frankly, that makes you look like an idiot.

Let me clarify my remarks:

First, I was not trying to call anyone an idiot. If you took offense to what I said or how I said it. I apologize. I don't think that all problems we are encountering with this game is due to "user error." In fact, I have had troubles with framerate myself. Please see my discussion about my experience and what I have done about it below.*

I just want you to understand that I really only was trying to say that the framerate issue is a very different problem than the failure to launch issue.

The failure to launch error that is the topic of this thread is not always easy to fix. In fact, it is an error that takes some effort on the individual user. I only addressed part of the possilbe fix. Sometimes simply downloading those 3 files doesn't fix it. I have personally run into this problem (not with Dying Light but with Far Cry 4) and I was able fix one of two nearly identical PCs I maintain for my kids by merely downloading said files. However, the other PC required my methodically going through the files and removed every directx runtime file on the system. Once I did that I downloaded the correct 3 files and it fixed the problem.

All PC gamers have be committed to figuring out issues with their games. It is imperative that PC gamers be able to indentify whether a given problem is "user error" or not. Use of the term "user error" is a term of art that does necessarily mean that PC gamer is to blame. All it means here is that some fixes have to come from the gamer and not the developer.

PC gaming is far more enjoyable when you can find and fix problems on your own. I have had to troubleshoot countless games in order to get them to run on our systems. And again, I don't mean to say that every problem lies with the user.

Waiting around hopefully that a fix will be issued in a patch is fine when you are confident that you can't fix the issue yourself. Ultimately that is all I meant by my post.

I am sorry you can't run the game. Not everbody has access to different configurations in order to run games. I know I am lucky that can do exactly that.

*Regarding Dying Light I had real problems with getting a playable framerate on one of my rigs. Here is the configuration of that PC:

AMD 6300 stock CPU
AMD 7950 3GB GPU
Windows 7 64bit
8GB RAM

This PC was only able to run the game with a framerate 20 to 25 which I feel rendered the game unplayable. No matter what settings I used the game just ran bad.

I then read up on on all the troubles the community was having with the game. I decided that it was doubtful a fix would be issued soon so I decided to change the configuration of this PC. Here is what I did:

1. I overclocked the AMD 6300 to 4.0
2. I swapped the AMD 7950 3GB with a Nvidia 580 with 1.5GB RAM
3. I upgraded Windows 7 64 bit to Windows 8.1 64bit and I did it as a clean install, I wiped the hard drive and kept no personal files on it.
4. I left the RAM at 8 giigs

I was quite pleased with the results. Even though my lowered settings dramatically dropped the quality of the game I finally got a very playable consistent framerate. I got this peformance and I did not even use the Dying Light manager that many have turned too.

For many people this would not be possible solution. Not everybody has the time, money or inclination to do this kind of troubleshooting.

P.S.

I think you may be bothered by my saying at the end of my original post that those PC gamers not wanting to engage is heavy troubleshooting should consider playing games like Dying Light on an Xbox One or PS4.

I didn't mean it as an insult, but rather as a viable option for some. In fact, in this regard I actually put my money where my mouth is.

I have two teenage sons and they planned to get Dying Ligth for co-op. My 16 year old actually preordered Dying Light on Steam for himself and his brother on their accounts. I suggested to them that they cancel their Steam preorders and get it for Xbox One.

I said this because I anticipated performance issues that would interfere with their co-op plans. The minimum requirements announced just before release led me to this concern. They took my advice. They contacted Steam support and got refunded just before release. This can be verified by Valve/Steam through the SeekretSquirrel account.

But even though I made this recommendation to my kids, I still bought Dying Light on Steam. Because I am very used to troubleshooting games on Steam and it doesn't bother me as much.
