Grappling hook feedback: very unreliable
In 20 hours of playtime I probably died more from reasons related to grappling hook than from anything else. Reasons are as follows:

  • Not grabbing a ledge on arrival.
Sometimes when I try and zip my way somewhere the whole thing goes wrong, Crane refuses to grab a ledge I was aiming at or any of the ledges which I fall by on my way to heavy trauma or certain death. Most notable case: Infamy bridge. Oh god, that bridge.

  • Grappling to places that are blocked by invisible walls.
There are some places which you aren't supposed to ever get to, mostly tops of the rock formations in the slums that normally should be out of reach. However, these rocks have a grappling point attached to them as usual, and don't really differentiate from other rocks that you can climb, which several times have led me to believe there might be something there, followed by a bump into an invisible wall/ceiling and - uh-huh - fall to death.

Another minor thing I'd like to have when having grappling hook equipped:
  • Hide the grappling hook crosshair when aiming down the sights with a firearm.

I admit, the hook is very useful when it works, it can save a lot of time and even life, buuut it's reliability could and should be improved.

P.S.
Would like to thank Techland for the great game. Only want it to get even better.

It's really hard sometimes to grab a ledge as you're falling, so problem #1 is greatly amplified.

in my about 50 hrs of gameplay

I think grapple hook is op as fawk and should not even be in the game

reasons :

you can grapple hook the floor below you to save you from fall damage
You can grapple hook more than once in the air to save yourself if your first grapple hook misses

Grapple hook can be obtained really early in the game and is basically unlimited (minus cooldown)

Grapling hook to invis walls usually allow you to use "roll" which will prevent fall damage, in the case you find you are really high up, you can use grapple hook a second time to save you.

grapple hook ledge grabbing is often really not the grapple hooks fault..in all honestly it has to due with the fact when you grapple things far away you often dont face the ledge correctly
and once again..in the case you CAN'T you can grapple hook a second time :D

The grapple hook is very useful enough, i really dont see how it needs improvements, and they should definitely focus on other things lol

it's also not very realistic in the first place lol

Just wait until you get the Level 25 Legend of Harran skill. You can use the grappling hook at least five times in a row before cooldown, and the cooldown is much faster since it recharges at the same rate but the grapple cost is lower.

i've been interested in that, im only 22-24-24 i seem to distract myself with zombie killing way to often to progress in survival ranks lol.

that seems way more Op than i expected

It's unbelievable in BTZ mode when I get invaded. The way the game works now, there are level 2, 3 hunters invading my game and I'm max level. They usually quit at some point because I'm so overpowered, even alone. If I combine the grappling hook with a speed booster, and a weapon that kills nests in one hit and the night hunter in two, I can end matches in three minutes.

I didn't get the roll-to-negate-fall-damage-skill yet, so there's that. Besides, it won't solve the problem, but will merely give a chance to survive the fall that occured because I did something that the game let me do and was punished for that.

that roll saved me 100s of times from a fall death but i find most of my glitches with the grapple like i somehow get tossed UNDER the map and fall to my death.

Haha, seems like I've been somewhat more lucky, I guess. No falls under the map for me... Yet.:D:
