How do I kill the giant orange zombies?
I ended up dying at the wrong moment and now one of them is locked inside a safe zone, now unless I kill him I won't be able to activate the safe zone.

Learn to dance.
Don't lose your patience, don't lose your cool.

Make sure the gate is locked, so no further enemy reinforcement could arrive.
Eliminate the lesser ones.

Then do the dance. Whack, whack, leap backwards to avoid the smash.
Run in, whack, whack to the head. Rinse and repeat.

PS. Getting some extra manuver/combat skills helps as well.
Just sleep till night, find an easy access safe zone. Just climb around, kill some regulars. If Volatiles spotted you, run back. Bla bla. It's not hard to level.

Throw a propane tank at his feet an wack the top off... and zombie kill of the week.

Just one of many ways.

lol try getting creative. ;)

If you have an electric damage weapon, you can kill them pretty easily by crafting some conductive liquid and drenching him then zapping him.

Also, explosives work relatively well, but of course, that draws virals.

Some might suggest fire, but honestly, that never did much for me. I'd have to throw 15 or more molotovs to actually kill one of them. They seem pretty resistant.

Honestly, the best strategy I had when my character was a noob... was just avoiding them. They're pretty slow. It's not that difficult to simply lure them away from objectives and avoid them entirely. With the exception of that one you're fighting, of course, so I guess that tip isn't very helpful...

When you do hit them, make sure it's in the head, otherwise they don't seem to take much damage.

Have you tried asking him nicely to move along?

With a level 25 Bastard sword, 2k dmg. Still takes about 2 to 3 body hit to down it.
So go figure, when you're using a water pipe.

craft a molotov, burn it..

Any red barrels near him? Get him to swing at you with the barrel between you and him. Make sure you spam backwards dash so you're clear of the explosion! I think it works with cars too.

I've never seen mollies have much of an effect of them.

Hell, I've seen two of them wade around in an electrified pool for five minutes and not care.

Actually, my previous suggestion of luring him away would probably work. I don't know if he'd follow you out into the street or not, but if so, you could just circle around and close the gate behind him...

Shurikens in the head (~8), or explosive shurikens (Take 2, 3 to down one demolisher)

I throw flammable liquid at those guys, then use a molotov or fire weapon to burn 'em. They die very, very fast. It almost seems like they just instantly die for me.
