It stuns the Volatiles at night when they are chasing you. Other than that it does nothing.

They harm and sometimes scare away night hunters hwen you're running through the night.

Ahh I see... thanks.

Well I guess that explains why they do nothing during the day, but I keep seeing the prompt to activate them and think maybe I'm missing something. :cfacepalm:
