Monitor Out Of Range
I just bought this game, the moment I start it my monitor goes black and says Out of Range.

This has been happening with multiple games, so tell me how to fix this for every game, and not just for Dying Light.

I can run other games like Skyrim at 1920x1080p so I don't know why I'm having problems with so many games.

When I right click on my desktop and click Screen Resolution, its at 1920x1080p. When I go to Advanced Settings and click monitor, It shows my Refresh Rate is 60 Hertz.

I want someone to tell me how to fix this for every game, and not for each game invidually.

Uninstall your monitor driver(in device manager) and redetect it(right click/scan for hardwear changes). Something got screwey at a guess and windows thinks it can support rersoulutions it can't

The ♥♥♥♥ do you mean full optimization. I BOUGHT THIS PC FROM A COMPANY, I ASSUME THEY HAD EVERYTHING WORKING BEFORE SELLING IT TO A CUSTOMER.

All the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steam hub says is "Go into properties and change launch options-"\

open control panel,
open device manager,
find monitors in the list,
left click it to expand the list,
it will probably have "generic pnp monitor" but could have something else,
left click to highlight then right click and select uninstall.

restart your computer and after it has booted check to see that it has reinstalled the driver(doubtfull that it hasn't but if not in device manager right click in free space and select scan for hardwear changes.

Then check the game and see it it has worked, if it hasn't you may need to alter every games settings files to make it start in a resoultion your monitor can support.

If you have to change the games setings then open notepad and open "C:\users\****\documents\dying light\out\settings\video.scr and change the resoultion in there and save it. eg;- Resolution(1920,1080)

I just tried it again. It starts the game in windowede mode. I change it to fullscreen, then it goes black and says Out of Range

Hmm...Have you got any driver update software running? It sounds like somehow the game thinks it can run in a resolution the monitor cant handle like 120hz or something. Failing that it could be a hardwear problem. If you can check your system with another monitor and with another cable and if possible check your monitor on another computer too.

Okay then how do I go about changing the game in notepad? When I open to Dying Light File, I click it, then I click out, then both settings and Logs are empty.

Notepad, files, open, change the "text documents .txt" button above open/ cancel to "all files *.*"

Change the resoulution to what your desktop currently is.

Found it, Each time I change the resolution, it just resets.
Zuluknob 31 Thg01, 2015 @ 3:07pm
open notepad
click file
click open
browse to C:\users\*your account name*\documents\dying light\out\settings
on the bottom right of the window is a button that says "Text Documents *.txt" click that and select "All Files *.*"
you should see 2 files now video.scr and audio.scr
select video.scr and open it
Find where it says something like "Resolution(1920,1080)" and change the numbers to match your desktop resolution
