Isn't this basically just Dead Island with parkour?

Swear I'm not trolling, but after a few hours of watching someone play this I really can't see why this is getting so much hype when it's basically just Dead Island with parkour and is set in an urban rather than a tropical setting. Am I missing something?

considering it was basiclly marketed as such, im not sure why you are asking. That is exactly what it is and is also the reason i bought the game (the parkour not the dead island bit, i hated dead island) So far i love dying light

Well, kind of. Techland worked on the Dead Island formula, yes. They did a great job improving it, adding new gameplay elements, and overall raising it from pretty good to great.

Yup. Basically an improved Dead Island with a full range of new mobility now. Don't think it ever really got any crazy hype, it's always looked like this. I'm not disappointed lol

So what's the big deal? I'm not saying it's not a fun game or anything, it's just that it seems like people are thinking that this is some kind of revolutionary thing. It's like if they released a 3 liter bottle of Mountain Dew and people are like: http://oi46.tinypic.com/2lbgykw.jpg

It's just a funny experience with good looking graphics and worth the buy - the co-op is fun, too - i don't got any FPS issues even on maxed out settings (1080p not 4k) so i think it worths it.

It is actually a really fun game, night time is pretty cool and it has pretty fluid movement. Just needs a performance patch.

I don't think anyone out there is saying this is revoutionary lol It's an improved Dead Island and seems to be pretty good. Nothing amazing, but pretty much exactly what I expected.

I haven't seen anything revolutionary in gaming in 18 years that I have been playing, everything copied something and over time stuff just got better.
