A complaint on no female character model.
Why the hell is it so hard for developers to make a female model for us to play as? My wife plays the game but is forced to play as a male character. She hates this...and I agree. In Co-Op I am staring at a clone of my own character. Even worse with 4 players! No variation at all in character models? No options?

Watchdogs, FarCry 4, Shadow of Mordor, Assassins Creed Unity...and now Dying Light. All of these very recent games and all of them lack a very basic and simple feature. How hard can it be to creat a female model skin and hire a female voice actor to say the same lines?

I can think of one easy way to accomodate this. It would have worked perfectly in all of the games mentioned above. Swap the male character with the lead female opposing character. In Farcry 4 it would be Amita, Watchdogs the guys sister, ACU the redheaded hot chick and obviously Jade in Dying Light. BAM! Done deal! Just hire a female voice actor for all the opposite lines and you already have the model ready to go!

It's lazy! It's also rather ignorant. Completely inconsiderate of female gamers! What excuse is there other than "money" at this point?

How about a nice little free update with a female character model Techland? Is that too much to ask?

bigger complaint there is only ONE male model!

In online everyone looks like clones! How dumb at least mix that up a bit.

It's too much to ask. There are probably more important things to do.

there is no reason I see that they could not simply allow a model select out of pre-existing character models. It would look no weirder to see two breckens or two jades than to see four cranes

I mean you could argue that they would need to set it up and that takes man hours... but dead island had the option so surely the code for model select is still there somewhere.

You know what? This thread is stupid. Not because of it's subject matter, but because of the idea that developers should do things just to be politically correct. NO.

One could have implemented 2 different models, but why dillute the story by doing that? You get a BETTER STORY if you write it around a base character, male or female.

Developers should be able to make the game they damn well want to make without having some jackass ♥♥♥♥♥ about it. They picked a male lead, so we have a male lead. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that.

This guy gets it.

If it bothers you, stop playing. Gender has nothing to do with gameplay. The story is tailored for one character, Kyle Crane. Most games are like that. It's less work, and it's a better way to feel connected with the characters and story.

There are multiple outfits to choose from if you want a different look. Having boobs on your player model won't change anything.

Dead Island had multiple characters and I felt very disconnected from the story. No one ever mentioned you by name, or even talked to you, they just told you do stuff. Your character just said generic things. It felt very bland.

Having a male protagonist is simply "Easier" for, well, anyone apparently. There must be a lot factors that fall into this, and most likely the growing rise in feminists. Remember the backlash with the Tomb Raider reboot?

Lara Croft gets manhandled by a bad guy, touching and groping her, damsel in distress. What they failed to realize is how Lara Croft defends herself in a rather shocking, but believable manner.

She's a tough character. Strong, smart, embodies determination and the will to fight and move forward, no matter how many times she gets banged up.

Sammus of Metroid, Bayonetta, countless other games with strong and beautiful female protagonists, but the feminists and media focus on the only thing that'll make top news and discussion.

The so called exploiting women for the dominate male audience in the gaming industry, when they all fail to realize that women are about half of the gaming community.

This guy is absolutely right, people will complain about anything. SJWs please go elsewhere.

This. Totally. I can understand the point for Co-op or multiplayer but not singleplayer. A complain about the game because no lead female character is as stupid as saying " I WANT A MALE BAYONETTA". Why do people need to inject gender crap in games? It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Not reality. The female chars in this game are powerful & interesting with a good background. The guy who wrote the characters said it in his blog and STILL PEOPLE COMPLAIN?

2015 : where having "gender, politics & politically correct" is more important than gameplay mechanics, perfomance/stability and storyline. F*cking hell

I'm an SJW because I think looking at 4 clones is weird? Even though I hate the ♥♥♥♥ out of 99% of SJWs? OK then.

Wasn't really the issue of having multiple characters, it was how they handled it. And for that matter there is no reason why you can't just have one crane, as the main protagonist, who is the only one referred to in dialogue and the rest are just buddies helping him (which is exactly what coop is). Host would be crane rest would choose.
