Does one -need- a gamepad to play on the PC?

Hi,

I pre-ordered the game long ago (Aug2013) and can't wait to play it, even knowing we're almost a year away from the release. It doesn't annoy me since I would rather have a mind blowing game a year from now than a mediocre one right now.

That said, I personally hate playing on gamepads, especially FP perspective games. But with this one, as an FPS, I never even acknowledged the possibility of being one of those Gamepad-PC games, especially considering that it is a mark of rushed and bad produced games, what nor WarnerBros nor TechLand games are known for.

Still, the only "let's play" video I found on the internet, as part of the marketing for the game, actually stated that players would -need- a 360 gamepad to play on the PC, as you can view in here: http://youtu.be/nH27niVlZMM?t=56s

So that's my question. Did they actually mean one would need a gamepad to play that specific demo or will this be one of those games that are unplayable on a computer set (like in bad kb + mouse experience)? Even though I doubt it, the fact that the only officially authorized video out there (except for trailers) states it is required is definitely making me apprehensive...

Is the 360 controller a necessity or a possibility? Thank you!

You dont need a controller its just if you want to you can play with a controller

Almost every console port ever made lets you use a gamepad, preferrably an X-Input capable pad. There's a great X-Input wrapper for the Dual Shock 4, and one for the Dual Shock 3, and XB360 pads work without a hitch by default. So short answer, yes, you can use a controller.

I prefer WASD+mouse in first-person games, due to the precision and speed with which one can aim while using a mouse. Makes it easy to do a 180º turn in less than a second.

Also, using the grapple skill may be a bit tough on the keyboard, as it has you press ALT and a direction, which takes a nimble thumb, what with ALT being directly below the WASD pyramid. ESDF users have it even tougher.

ok but i got this controller called "steelseries 3GC controller" will that work its meant for pc gaming can you look it up because i want to know did i spend my money on that controller for nothing so can you plz look into it and get back to me as soon as possible

I'm a pc and console gamer, ppl always say that its easier to use a keyboard and mouse!!
Being a pro at both, i disagree. Like not every mouse is the same, and you have to find your sweet sensitive spot using the mouse, controllers are much the same. Depending on the quality, and finding your sweet spot with sensitivity, ( People not used to it, can't handle it, but almost max sensitivity.) with prolonged practice and dual anolog sticks its much closer than you think, I use PSTools and use my ps4 controller, but I also have a good razer keyboard and mouse.
But I do prefer the keyboard and mouse, mostly for sniping. Which i find the only difference, I also prefer the controller for racing games, it depends on the game, for dying light I have tried both and don't find anything easier or harder. But for games like dayz, precision shots, always and only K/B & mouse, but CQ combat and mid range shots, I'm using the K/B Mouse however I am as good with the controller. So if you're inexperienced with using WASD and Mouse, ensure you have a good controller and practice practice, it's damn close to being even. Just not for sniping, the mouse is king there.
But don't let it deter you from going against ppl using K/B's as technology has come a long long way in controllers and it's mostly to do with someones reaction time, over what they're using.

Honestly, its not hard, plug it in, if it works then it works. There is no option for using, just pick it up and it works, if its compatible!!. Mid game whilst using my K/B and mouse, I picked up my controller. It just worked, no menu, nothing to change. It just recognised I switched, no problem.
In regards to your controller, google it!!!! Why are you asking others, it either works or it doesn't.

Actually, all I wanted to know was if the DL's kb+m controls would be another awful port as many many games out there have.

At the time I created this thread (around a year ago), there was a video stating that the game would actually REQUIRE a gamepad.

This game's controls are good enough, and I am satisfied.

well it doesnt take my kind of controller and then when i get in the game its all laggy can some one tell my why i have all the system requirements plz tell me why is so laggy i mean really laggy and then when i look straight up its some what faster but then i cant see what im doing then when i look normal its really laggy
