how "safe" is a safe zone?
So I've been playing dyling light for a little while, and I wondered if there were any biters that could get past the safe zones defense, like say the nightmares that roam at night or the feral zombies. Couldn't they just jump over too kill you while you are unable to draw your weapons?

or is there no navigational mesh and they cannot/absolutely not, get into the safe zone?

zobies cant get into safe zones at all, partly because of fences, and mostly because of UV light. on top of that a safe zone is called a safe zone becuase it is safe. if zombies could get in then it wouldnt be a safe zone.

Even if zombies get inside, they tend to ignore you completely.

Safe Zones have UV lights which burn them badly.Making them run.

Imagine them as the Blade Monsters in Infamous 2.UV Lights slow cooks them like a Pig on a BBQ!

Yeah, the UV lights keep out the volatiles, but biters/virals aren't affected by UV lights. So in reality virals should be able to easily climb into safe zones, but it can't happen in the game.
If a zombie does get into a safe zone (this can happen in a few ways, all of which aren't intended to happen), they pretty much just sit there and ignore the player. I got two volatiles stuck in the safezone with Zere's trailer once. They ran around randomly ignoring everyone until I got bored and walked away and they despawned.

Bites and virals also get affected by UV light. Check your facts straight.

With the information the game's story gives you, they should be affected by UV light, but during actual gameplay that's not the case. Notice how both Biters and Virals are out during the day? Where the sun is shining UV light everywhere? (And yes, that's why Volatiles only come out at night) You can also shine your UV light directly at them and nothing will happen.
If you try to capture a safezone by turning on the power before you close any open doors, you'll notice the Biters and Virals STILL aren't affected by the UV light.
Trust me, I've played around with these mechanics quite a bit ;)

I do find it silly that virals can't get inside, it's a bit of an important continuity error isn't it?

I once teased a volatile on the edge of the fence while using a gun... and it came straight at me!!
It just jumped over the fence, standed still with bubbles appeared on its body. If you get close to it now, it'll strike you!! Died for this once. xD

Friends and me have tried to bug out the game in all sorts of ways.

If any of them happen to get in, whether your standard walker or one of the volatiles, they'll try to escape no matter what. Since this usually isn't possible, they'll usually get stuck in a corner. If it is possible, like in the bottom of the tower for them to leave, and you block them, they will attack just to open up a path (even though they can just turn around).

As much as there is a huge plot hole concerning this as you pointed out, at night virals do succumb to UV lights--why they don't at day is the plot hole. Throw a flare or something at them during night and they'll refuse to go through it, or become stuck in it.

I would argue the reason biters and virals are able to withstand daytime uv light is the consistency and how it isn't so sudden and direct. The sun simply applying standard levels of uv light across them might not be enough for them to be incapacitated, an example of this would be shown by the uv lights at night only serving to deter them momentarily with what appears to be mostly just a sudden flash of unexpected pain until they overcome it.

As far as the safety of safe zones is concerned, volatiles will still pounce on you if you remain too close to the edge, even if it means pushing you farther inside the safe zone.

The night hunter can succesfully pounce and kill a survivor inside a safe zone if no survivor manually hits the night hunter with uv light, because oddly enough safe zone uv lighting drains the night hunters health without draining any of his energy, thus allowing him to succesfully pounce but almost always ensuring he dies for the kill as well.

As stated by another poster though, all basic zombies that manage to accidently find themselves inside the walls of a safe zone will always just bug out and refuse to do anything besides attempting to exit the safe zone unless you place your character directly in front of the zombie preventing them from exiting, then they might begin to attack you, but you asked for it in that case.

I wonder if toads can spawn close enough to safe zones to spit acid on you while you're in them.
SportyHeadShot Dec 22, 2017 @ 4:39am
Depending on the safe zone they can spit acid on you while your inside of it, the pharmacy safe house is a good example, theres ledge you can sit on just outside of the safe area and the volitiles do so love to climb up there and spit all over you while your in the safe zone. quite painful.

Zombie can't get into it. Even they get in, they will become civilized lol.
