Volatiles have over a thousand health points. Don't bother shooting them with anything other than a shotgun, because you'll just waste all your ammo. Just don't even bother trying to kill them until you start to find weapons that do over 500 damage.
As a general rule, the aim of the game is to try to avoid them if at all possible, not kill them, though. So you shouldn't try to kill them if at all possible.

Yeah, especially at an early level. As I mentioned, the game tries to push you in a more "stealth" direction anyways. Hurting a volatile will just end up bringing an endless stream of them to you. I stayed up all night once just kicking them off a roof until they died and trust me, they never completely stop showing up ;)

Thanks a lot, really appreciated!:steamhappy: I'll stay stealth at night and on day i'll do what i want

Edit: it's a lot better with speed boost! if a volatile want to kill me i use a speed boost,or the trick when i look behind and use a UV,they stop running :)
