Game not saving! WTF?

Hi all

Dunno whats going on. Bought this game a few days ago and it's been working fine and saving my progress.

I've just done a fresh install of Windows 10 on my pc and now when I play Dying Light the game doesn't save, even though the square save icon comes up.

Normally when I log into the game it says continue. Now everytime I play it no matter how much I've played or quests completed, it says play campaign. No saves and have to play right from the start.

Anyone got any ideas, this is very frustrating

This issue pops up repeatedly in games with conversion to Win 10. Maybe something to do with the directory where saves are kept...? Maybe it's a folder permissions setting. Honestly, I never saw the actual solution, but I know it cropped up repeatedly with users of Win 10 upgrades in The Witcher 3. I'll see what I can find for you...

I was running the game fine on Windows 10 before.

Previously it was an upgrade to Windows 10, but I decided to do a fresh install.

Now the game won't save at all. It's weird though cause the save file in the folder does say it's been modified at the time I was playing it.

All my Steam folders are read only, should they be?

No, I don't think so. Will have to check to be sure, but that doesn't sound right.

I didn't think so either. It's not letting me change it though, even though I'm admin lol

Ignore the Win7/XP steps of course.

Here's another page with some pretty advanced steps about making the permissions permanent, IF and only IF they revert back after a reboot. I wouldn't worry about these unless your settings keep going back to Read-Only though.

No still the same. Is your Steam folder read only?

Yeah...it is. That's weird.

Have you tried right-clicking Steam.exe and choosing to run as Admin? Have you also tried creating a shortcut for Steam.exe and setting it to Run as Admin and launch that way?

Yeah done both those things also. No joy :(

The same ♥♥♥♥, everything was fine but one day it's just stopped saving my progression properly. It starts from the same point over and over before going to the Old Town for the first time.

No, I'm not. I'm on Win7. I can't really get what happend to the saving process, because everything was perfect. I tried to change the attributes of the saving folder, but it didn't help. Tried to run as an administrator but it didn't help either. Uninstalling and reinstalling steam and the game finally solved the problem.

ive tried everything i can even played up to 8% of the game still not saved even reinstalled it .nothing there is no point in playing any more should be refunded game is broken

ok game is still f........d uninstalled steam deleted all steam sub folders started all again started the game 2% no saves bu....hit .
