Question about damage of 'broken' weapons.
Yesterday a max level player joined my game and gave me a really strong machete of some sort. I think it was nearly 2k damage, but I don't remember for sure. It was just about one shotting everything though, and I even survived a full night being chased by hunters at this electrical plant..was crazy.

In any case, all I want to know is about this thing now that it's broken essentially. I've noticed that I can still kill regular zombies with it, and as far as I can tell, it's still WAY more effective than all the blunt pipes and such that I was using before.

Is this broken weapon permanently usable for killing off fodder without wasting something more useful, or will it eventually shatter or something like that?

I have to say, I really hate the limited repair mechanic in this game. People use weapons for...years and years and years. There's no reason these things should be useless after plowing through a few husks.

yeah it does get to me a bit to all these repairs and broken weapons. Wish there was a mod to at least reduce how quickly it degrades.

The more deep you get into the story, the better and the more weapons you find, so there is no point in holding to one single weapon :/ If you have a 2k damage weap the game becomes boring... so enjoy it until you craft a 2k damage weapon on your own lol Also, there is a perk that when you repair your weapon, there is a chance it won't spend a repair slot.
I have the same weapons for weeks now, they don't broke because of that "Little chance" and Im not interested in finding new weapons because I already have like 3 or 4 waiting for the other one to break..

Typical steam discussions, no relevant answers.

A broken weapon deals 10% of its base damage, and it won't disintegrate.

I'm sure i've seen a skill perk that reduces weapon damage...could be wrong tho.
