Personally, I'd avoid Dying Light 2, even if there is mostly mediocre brainless fun to be had, and get the absolute classic that is Dying Light 1. Most people seem to think this way.
DL 1 is just so much better.
Also Techland just cancelled the second dlc for Dying Light 2 and are instead making it a standalone game, so whatever character progress you grind out in the second game doesn't transfer further disincentivizing playtime through already mediocre content.
I gave DL2 a second chance after quitting just 2 hours into it on launch. This time I managed to get to the point where the game finally opens and the game loop sets. After a few hours, it is clear DL2 is just a shadow of its predecessor. Feels like a clone that is trying too hard to be Dying Light. It's just... boring.
Reinstalled DL1 and I can confirm it wasn't nostalgia goggles. The first game is objectively superior.
