Ex. i have a 4100ish dmg machete that can swing at least 3 times in the same amount of time it takes my 5500ish dmg sledge hammer to swing once.
so damage output for the one hander is about 12,300
and for the sledge its still a pitifull 5500.
The sledgehammer, pickaxes, battleaxes and I think bastard swords (although they look more like true two-handers) are more capable at hitting multiple enemies PER SWING, usually have longer reach (greater hitbox!) and WILL decimate a group around or in front of you with Windmill attack or the drop attack.
Even then, everything but some of the weapons are just too slow and have huge recovery times. I use them for lolz against groups, especially when groups have big zombies that need to be hit all the time.
The real beauty of the two-handers are the katanas and "scythes." They will benefit from all 2-H attributes but have the movesets of the 1-H weapons. Those are the ones you wanna brag to Mom and Dad about.
