I need 12 shots from a Pistol or a Rifle into the head of a HUMAN to kill him...purely RETARDED!
Zombs survive sometimes 30 hits with 900DMG weapons with no probs.
At night the stalkers run as fast as your car=retarded.
Oh and in 99,9 percent of the cases, you are a 1 hit for them.
They just created a VERY HARD mode, you have to deal with it.
(Spoiler: it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ funny mode, when you eventually get used to it).
Running away at first, not being able to kill the big guys made the survival aspect for me and my friends. I dont want to one shot everything, the fun and the thrill would be lost instantly...
We wanted to run for our lives picking the fights we thought we would win to survive this apocalypse. =)
Nowadays i have legendary and gold weapons and its so fkn easy... im not even playing alone because the scaling alone is a joke, even on Nm
Techlands did say that nightmare mode is for experienced Dying Light players. It was designed to be challenging for these players. So, when I started nightmare mode, I never even thought about the storyline. I max out all skills except Legned when I was only 8% into storyline, i.e. day doesn't change into night yet. Enabled all safehouses. Loot as much as possible. Never engaged with group of more than 3 zombies. The game got slightly easier when the bow was avialable for buying from sellers. Easier in the sense that it is counted as silent weapon. Only aimed for the head but still need a few shots. When I finally max out my legend at 15% into storyline, everything was relatively easier but still need accurate hit. If not hitting the head, even lowly zombies required more than one hit. Once legend was max out, the bow is the most efficent weapon as it is silent and deadly. And for the Following, the crossbow is the prime weapon in dealing with volatile nests, oh, with the help of cloak potions, tons of it literally. By this time, I can one shot demolishers at their head with a crossbow. Even the new big demolishers are much of a problem with accurate head shots. However, the process of maxing the legend skills is a killer, needed over 9000 relief packs!!!! Spent about 8 weeks farming at Stuffed Turtle. I remembered that the last few levels required over 7.6 millions xp to go up just one level!!!!! However, once legend is max out, the fighting mechanics felt quite realistic. By that I mean you still have to be accurate, and also, cannot just walk in there and start hecking. Still have to have some sort of fighting plan. As to The Following, the last fight scene was quite exciting. Some may complain about it but I thought it was rather good.Well, at least it is not button play as in the base story. I died about 6 times fighting Mother. In the end, I figured out how to fight her. I remembered that fighting Mother in normal game difficulty was not the same, much easier and less skill. But in nightmare mode, it was tougher.
I always said, like in other posts, I think nightmare mode should be what Dying Light should be at the beginning. Every fight need a bit of thinking. But I have to say, the legned skill, Techlands has overdone it a touch. Towards the end, it was not fun for me, but a chore.
I just got this game last month and played it pretty religiously for a bit. On normal difficulty I got bored quickly because it got very easy very early. I skipped hard and went straight to Nightmare. I loved it. I had to run more than fight, pick my fights, and plan ahead. However, now that I'm max level (not legendary) and in old town the game is just a slog. No matter how good my weapon is, what upgrades I make, or what mods I install all my weapons just bounce off zombies (literally, whenever I hit them my blow just bounces off and they stumble into me). Guns are basically pointless, they barely do any damage and just attract spongey virals. High level take down skills are worthless because they exhaust you if you are missing any stamina, leaving you defenseless in a swarm. You basically have to just chug stamina boosters to fight any group of enemies, even if its only a few.
The game is no longer difficult, per se, just very very tedious. Last night I bumped it down to Hard and I'm having so much more fun. I still can't go completely gung ho but being able to slice my way through a small group with my bast@rd sword is a lot more fun than just running from everything.
In my opinion they should just have drastically increased enemy damage for nightmare but leave the health the same as in hard.
I also play it like how I would try to survive in this kind of scenario. Sticking to high ground, jump on a car and wait for the horde to come to you then kick their heads in, use your utilities. I don't even bother with volatiles since if you manage to kill one, another has already killed you from behind. Waste of xp in my opinion.
See this is my issue. I do this when farming Stuffed Turtle (standing on a shelf instead of a car). But two stomps drains all your stamina, so this process takes forever. It is NOT difficult, just tedious. As with most situations in Nightmare.
And utilities are weak in nightmare. One grenade rarely kills a normal zombie. Having to throw 2-3 grenades is not more difficult than throwing one, just nore tedious.
Nightmare should have more demanding crafting recipes, but utilities should be real game changers.
