Tried to get gold weapons at the Harran Prison but.....
.....at the end of the game, I was in the armory attempting to unlock one of the chests. But the game only gave me one lousy f***ing minute to do it. I couldn't even get one chest open so I didn't get any gold weapons.

I think this is the only part of the game that truly sucks. It sucks out loud, because I spent all that time struggling to make it that far, only to receive just one f***ing minute time to open a chest.

Completing the Prison is only worth it on Nightmare or Nightmare+ as you have 25 minutes to reach the Armory, and close to 3 minutes (- a few secs) to loot the Armory itself.

3 minutes are more than enough to loot all Med Cabinets for free Medkits and even Boosters, including the Night Hunter one if you get lucky + lockpick every chest, restock on ammo and loot a majority of the lockers containing random crafting supplies, including rarer ones like different Zombie guts and the Lighter Gas.

If I remember the exact amount of time deducted correctly, each additional teammate with you lowers the Armory timer by 10 seconds, meaning a full lobby on Normal will only give you 30 seconds to loot the Armory.

The best result I have had in retrieving gold weapons is to go in as a group of 3 or 4. On nightmare. Doing that gets you a bigger bonus time at the end of the match. Also remember the Prison is a time trial. There are only two points you have to kill everything. First is the battle with the Guards. They must all die. 2nd at the end Virals and Demolishers must all die. All the other areas just run through them and get out. More players means more trunks opened faster. Oh the lockers on the right as you enter contain other unique items for crafting like Bolter Tissue and some thing else. Happy Hunting

1. Every additional teammate grants you a 10% bonus XP, teammates in fact DEDUCT time from the timer you've got for looting the Armory (pretty sure it was mentioned in my original reply to the OP) ;

2. You don't need the aid of more teammates for lockpicking necessarily - AussieGG has a perfect tutorial on mastering lockpicking / being able to lockpick every locked chest, car etc. in the game with just 1 lockpick.

Once you master lockpicking, you're good to go Solo unless you're in a position where aid is needed - for example friends with higher dmg weaponry being able to assist in the fight at the start against the Guards, and later in the fight against the 3 Demolishers and Virals in the Prison Yard outside of the Armory. ;

3. While the lockers found inside the Armory contain a huge variety of crafting components, including some of the rarest ones in the game (different Special Infected guts, Lighter Gas, Electronics etc,), they DO NOT contain the Bolter Tissue you need for many blueprints, including but not limited to Tier 3 Toxic weapon blueprint and Dahlia's Cloak Potion.
The only way to obtain Bolter Tissue is through killing and looting the corpses of Bolters during the night after you've completed the 2nd briefing with the Quartermaster where he showcases all Bolter's feeding grounds in a cutscene.
