Control changes don't save

Every time I launch the game I have to remap my controls, anyone had this issue and know how to fix it? it's the version from the Epic store if it matters.

Known issue with the epic games version, controls / settings do not save, constant crashes to main menu cause of the "profile has been changed" which happen non-stop, I crashed about 10 times in 1 hour cause of this bug while co-oping with 2 friends.

Best you can do is wait for them to patch the game on epic games, I bought it on steam cause it was driving me nuts.

This is all to do with folder access rights. The game is trying to save your checkpoint and it doesn't have the appropriate access to the save folder so it creates a new profile and throws you back to the title screen so you can load it. The problem is that the new profile doesn't have your save game in (hence your latest save game disappears). When you log out and back in it "finds" your old profile and your save is there again. This could be a Windows 10 access rights issue or an issue with the way the game tries to save to your save games folder. I have tried turning off cloud saves (doesn't help). I have also tried to put an exception in the "Controlled Folder Access" section of Windows Security. That does not work either. With cloud saves disabled the game will not even save your settings (sound, graphics, keybinds etc.) to a local file so every time you log in your settings need changing. This, again, I think is folder access rights.

It results in settings not saving, in the dreaded "profile has changed" error, and I'm willing to bet the "multiplayer session no longer available" issue reported here just now at https://steamcommunity.com/app/239140/discussions/0/3829789648159685575/ also has to do with it.

So much for another Epic freebie, i guess You'd think it should be easily resolved, too, I mean how many other games do you know of that show this behavior.

ps So taking a cue from that post, I've turned on cloud saving at Epic. It's too early to tell, but it certainly seems to make the game's settings stick, and so far it has stopped my changed profile errors for the last half hour or so, though I should report back on it after a few more hours of play.

It is in any case not a real solution, I prefer not to use cloud saves, and if anything all that web traffic & server space only mess up the world even further than it already is.

just lost 8 hours of progress because I didn't relaunch the game after my save got deleted and tried to make a new profile... Don't create a new profile and immediately relaunch the game if you get kicked out and your save is deleted

Basically the same as everyone. My settings (controls, display, some of the graphics and game language) don't save after rebooting the game. Nothing seemed to work. I also encounter the "your profile was edited" error twice in 4h of gameplay.

It is funny that the only real discussion about it is at Steam's forums even tho seems like most of the games with issues were gotten from Epic Games

I think I saw Techland mention, um, somewhere that they would address the Epic issue, and just now starting the game again at Epic it went almost too quick to notice, but I think I noticed a wee update passing by; so we may all want to give it another try there and report on our findings. I've now turned off my cloud saving again and I'm so far cautiously optimistic about the game holding steady.

Yeah, thanks. It and the main thread at https://www.reddit.com/r/dyinglight/comments/12eiy3r/profile_has_been_changed_issues_on_epic_games/ now seem to offer a bunch of suggestions that people may want to try out if they still run into trouble.

After all this, I'm still not convinced I actually like the game, heheh, but hey, here's to trying ;)

Just to affirm that by now I'm pretty sure the update has fixed my issues.

I haven't touched my control layout so can't say if that sticks; and what doesn't seem to stick is my fullscreen setting, but for some reason this doesn't stick with a lot of games, not sure why. Anyway while annoying it is a minor inconvenience, and easily adjusted.

Most importantly, I haven't seen the changed-profile error for a good while.

Really. Hm. That's odd, I've been playing without issue ever since my posts above, some 14 hours by now. (As said, I can't speak for alternate control schemes.)

Maybe it somehow magically helped that I did briefly turn on cloud saving, even though I turned it off again? Have you checked if the Epic client or the game has any updates pending?

ps Re: the changed-profile issue, it has been suggested that from the game's startup menu page, instead of hitting continue, go to where you can load your last save, and proceed from there. Haven't tried it, but I can see how that might work.
