Dying Light - Low FPS & FPS Drops Fix (Laptop) GPU Usage
-------- So i am writing this for everyone who is experiencing this in the game with gaming notebooks(laptop). --------

For the fix, for newer gaming laptops, like ones with RTX series graphics cards:
1.Search for your own laptop how to (Disable!!!) Optimus.
2.Disable it and restart the laptop so the changes take place.
3.Now the game should be running.
NOTE - If you're experiencing still low fps&fps drops, check task manager to see if any Intel OR AMD Graphics are still showing up as (GPU0) and if that is still shown, then you haven't disabled Optimus or hasn't taken the change.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For older gaming laptops, this will be another way of fixing it, since unfortunately you may not be able to turn off Optimus, but (BYPASS) it.
1.Go to NVIDIA Control Panel.
2.Go to Configure Surround & PhysX (for older it may be only PhysX)
3.Go to PhysX Settings and select the your NVIDIA Graphics.
4.Apply and exit from there. (Restart PC)
5.Then go plug your laptop HDMI to an (external) Monitor & TV (TV works too)
6.You've then bypassed Optimus and can enjoy the game on external monitor only!

------- A little bit sad for gaming laptops(notebooks) with GTX 16 Series in them. Only BYPASS is doable in this case.--------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for even older gaming laptops(notebooks)!!! :DDDD

From 10 Series like GTX 1050-1080(TI included) and below

There is no real fix as to however such old laptops(notebooks) don't have OPTIMUS.
However I can offer some solutions, but does not guarantee will work*
1.FIX - Reset Graphics Card Drivers, Update OR Reinstall.
2.FIX - Open up your laptop(notebook) if you can and know how to clean up the fans from dust and blockage, since your laptop may be overheating* (if you do not know!! how to do this, take it to a repair shop and say, you'd like them to clean your laptop up.)
3.FIX - Try lowering your Graphics Settings in the game:
-lower the (FOV). It has an impact on the FPS for whatever the reason.
-lower VIew Distance to the middle or below (that takes a huge chunk of FPS performance too)
-If anything doesn't help, your GPU(aka Graphics Chip) because (LAPTOP), not Graphics Card :DDDD may simply be too slow and not strong enough to push for more FPS.

I hope this was helpful for anyone who had issues with ''Performance in Dying Light''.
Thank you, and have a very safe, and productive day :DDDD

Nice post.

Just to add, generally 10 series and below laptop gpu's generally do not have issues with the game (in terms of hitting the laptop bug that other cards have), its rtx gen onwards including the 1600 range (even though they are not rtx).

Generally people with 10 series or below that are having issues, its down to their in game settings are too high, or the specs are too low.

I have a GTX 1650 and I don't know exactly what I did, but I tried a few tweaks, including setting Physx to NVIDIA instead automatic, now it's locked on 60FPS even on high settings.

I noticed that when the game is working properly, the FPS limiter works fine, for example, I'm playing with vsyng off, fps limit at 60, it stays at 60 all the time, but sometimes the game just decides to bug and "unlock" the FPS limiter, that's when it start using 50% of my GPU instead of 100%, so it starts oscilating between 40 - 80FPS, instead of constant 60FPS, I still don't know what causes this bug, it's very random and kind of rare, so I just restart the game and everything works fine again.

Summarizing:
- It uses properly all my GPU power when the FPS LIMITER is working fine, locked on 60FPS all the time.
- But randomly the FPS LIMITER is set to unlimited (even settings showing 60), and it stops using all my GPU power.
- After that I start getting 40-80FPS range with 50% of usage.

It happened more on cutscenes, sometimes the FPS limiter just get back to limited 60 by itself, and I don't need to restart the game.

to me too* like i said use hdmi or connect to a 2nd monitor or external monitor and then there will be no problem*

@Raizel Lyfeld
I was looking at the settings, maybe it can fix the monitor issue, I didn't have it constantly so I can't test by myself.

But I was looking into the settings file and there's a line saying:

!Monitor(i) // -1 primary monitor

Even tho the next lines of settings doesn't have this settings setted.
Maybe you can try add to the end of this file:

Monitor(-1)

And maybe it forces the game to use your primary monitor.
After that go to file properties and mark as "Read only" to avoid the game changing it again.
Tell me if it fixes something.
Obs.: The settings are in "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\DyingLight\out\settings\video.src", open the notepad and grab the file to a blank notepad file if the "Open with..." option doesn't shows up.
