Dying Light wont launch - Please help
I have recently purchased my new PC and now having to download my games from steam again, no issues other than with dying light, downloads fine and then when attempting to play it shows the "prepairing to launch" and then nothing, have followed advice from other discussions however when looking at the files I am missing the _CommonRedist folder, what can I do to fix this? I have uninstalled the game three times and re-installed with no luck, graphics card ect is all up to date as well

Run steam in admin mode then try DL. Also sometimes antivirus software can stop games from playing.

Thanks for the idea, sadly this didn't help either

I'm in the same boat, fresh install after not playing for a few months. It starts to launch, shows the splash screen and then back to desktop without a message.

I checked the event log and found the Exception code: 0xc0000005 associated with Dying Light. According to MS, Dying Light is performing an illegal access to memory and being halted by the Win10. @emmagroom, can you confirm whether you are getting the same message in your event viewer?

Unfortunately, W10 is not officially supported, but it will run it.

You should be able to fix it by going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dying Light\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010 and running DXSETUP.

Then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dying Light\_CommonRedist\vcredist There are 2 files, 2010 and 2012, run the exe for 32 or 64 bit ,depending on your OS, from both folders.

Run Steam and the DL EXE as Administrator.

Also, do you have updated video drivers ?

You can also try running the DL EXE in compatibility mode if installing the runtimes doesn't work.

The code I am getting is 0xc000007b , however I only have this now, before attempting a lot of fixes I was getting the same code as well, the issue is my partners computer which is also windows 10 runs it fine however is about 3 years old now and with mine being brand new this may be the issue

Hi, the issue I have is that I do not have a _CommonRedist folder what so ever, it just has not downloaded with the rest of the game, however everything else is leaving it at 29.9gb so I cannot attempt the first fix, I have tried running as administrator did not work, my drivers are all up to date, I also just tried the forth option and it didn't work either, thank you for all of your suggestions though :)

You can get the visual C++ redistributables here -

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

I might also suggest checking to see if Microsoft .Net framework might gave a new version available through Windows Updates.

Best of luck 👍

Thank you but I have already done both of these options

Why people talk about a _commonredist folder everywhere everytime someone can't launch the game?
This folder doesn't exist, i don't have it, nobody who can't launch it have it, one of my friend who can play just fine don't have it and he never got any problem with his game.

I'm really tired of those games who just won't work on some computer for no reasons, and are not fixed even after 4 years.

Has anyone been able to resolve this yet? I don't have a _commonredist folder either.
