It is a relative terms. I personally think that the better word to use is original base game, i.e. the original version that was released last year. Enhanced edition is an "updated" version. Basically, Techlands had released an update that improved the graphics and in game mechanics. However, as I understood from reading different threads in this forum, the graphics improvement was general accepted but in game mechanics was entirely different matter. Some like it and some don't. After spending over 800 hours in this game, the orignal version was a little lame in my opinion. But I still spent almost 600 hours due to the parkour. I played through the game in all the different difficulty modes. I found that after I have max out all the skill trees, the game had lost all attractions. The enhanced edition is what the game should be in the first place. Techlands had made all zombies much tougher, including the lowly one. Also, the fact that stamina no longer stays at max during fighting makes the fighting experience much more interesting. If you haven't played the game before, I recommend you to play in normal difficulty first to learn where things are, what to expect around which corners. But I do recommend you to max out in at least the power skill tree before getting to sector 0. Then if you like more challenge, go straight to nightmare mode, don't bother with hard mode. In normal mode, you don't really need to max out in the Legend skill. In any case, Techland has made it ridiculously, I won't say hard, but long winded to level up the Legend skill. And that is why a lot of players "cheated" to level up Legend skill.
All the DLCs prior to the release of The Following DLC are, in my opinion, pointless, except The Bozak Horde of course. With The Following, there is the driver skill tree as you get to drive a buggie around the country side. I am the minority that do not like driving game but I still managed to max it out in normal mode. (I have finished The Following in normal difficulty) I personally find that The Following is not as fun as the base game due to the fact that parkour is not really necessary and there are missions that require parkour, they are not challenging at all. Somehow, I felt as if I was "doing homework" instead of playing a game.
Story wise, I personally think that there is no story better than The Last of Us as far as zombie game is concerned. The story, overall, to me anyway, started off quite strong, then sizzled out into puff of smoke.
It is a shame that the coop game is buggy after the addition of VAC. If you turn it off, you can play invasion or coop game but there is very high chance to meet players with "hacked" or modded enhancement. If you turn it on to avoid these players, your game will crash 5 to 10 minutes into the game. This is a known bug. If there is no bug and no "enchanced" players, I reckon you get at least another 100 hours from the online games.

There's no "normal edition"...The base game itself is called DL: Enhanced Edition

It just means the game was made as Dying Light, one year after the devs decided to make a big graphical and gameplay update renaming then the game. That is all

The Devlopers could have done a better job with the naming convention. If you google the Dying Light Enhanced Edition patch, it was a free patch to owners of the original Dying Light. It also changed the name of the game to "Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition". While the patched provided a major upgrade, it did NOT give original owners the new DLC "The Following". New players could purchase the "Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition", and it does include DLC The Following. Confused yet? If so, welcome to the club.

if the enhanced edition is just a patch, why is there a price differance in the store ? enhanced isnt the following included but normal is cheaper but the same, i almost bought the game, but im not a fan of mindgames with the consumer neither am i going to pay for a patch.

I just bought the "Dying light enhanced edition" in Steam and I found tht It had "the following" DLC. So I think "Dying light" in Steam just the original game and had not any DLC.
