What's up with the bow?
After the Bozak DLC came out, the bow was all anyone could talk about but having used it for a bit in The Following, I'm wondering if Kyle Crane isn't a five year old girl because the arrows arc after flying for about two feet. That's not how a real bow works - that's how a children's training bow works. I've held the mouse button for a really long time thinking the draw animation might be a bit off but it doesn't matter how long I hold down the button - he still fires arrows as if he has muscular distrophy.

So, am I missing something here? Do I need to upgrade the bow or find a better version of the standard bow? As it stands right now, this thing is a joke. I wish I was kidding, but I just shot some bandit in the face four times with the bow and he was still jumping around trying to stab me as if nothing ever happened.

Try it without using the bow sights?
Seemed to be better wthout them

It's plenty realistic for a bow....a 20lbs draw weight bow.

As an archer myself I'm always disappointed when games have dinky bows. One reason I enjoy Far Cry 3/4 so much is because you can play almost exclusively with the bow.

Never got around to playing FC4, but I loved the bow in FC3.

As it stands, the bow is only useful for cheesing strong monsters (Behemoth and Bezelthing) just stood there while I shot them in the face with arrows for paltry damage, but even then, the laughable damage isn't even worth the time investment. Maybe down the line if I'm able to unlock some Rambo explosive-tipped arrows I'll revisit the weapon. Until then, it's a piece of junk and should never have been added in the game if they weren't going to do it right.

The Following bow is pretty useless. Harran Ranger Bow is the best arrow based weapon in the game now.

Do you find either the Harran or the Bozak bow in The Following?

Harran ranger bow is a part of a new dlc (2,99EU)

Well, I got a crossbow so the bow is completely useless to me now and I won't be spending $3 just to make use of the bow.

They changed the balance of the bows so that the basic Blue bow (which was newly added) only has a very short range. The Bozak Bow can hold an extra +damage mod and shoot a lot farther than the blue bow.

The crossbow can shoot very far, and has a scope, but is pretty useless at close range because of the long reload. That is actually where the regular and Bozak bows shine, with them you can rapidly headshot many zombies in quick succession.

Eh, no need for rapid headshots in close range. If zombies are closing in on you and you're still trying to pull off no-scope headshots, then you were unprepared. I always have two modded machetes, a modded fire axe, and at least one or two ranged. Right now, it's the crossbow and my police rifle. I was hoping they would make shotguns useful in this installment, but it appears they are still absolutely useless aside from selling.

Do the special arrows gain any greater effect later? I just shot 25 incidiary arrows into a group of zombies and they are still wandering around. I know there's conducting fluid to make electric attacks stronger, so I assume there should be some sort of oil flask I can craft, but I don't see anything like that available.

You can get hit in melee and your melee weapons break. Close range shots with the bow can take enemies down before they get close enough to hit you and the bow doesn't have any durability to lose. And honestly speaking I prefer shooting to slashing. After a little while in the Following I practically stopped using melee weapons entirely.

Shotguns were useful when the EE / The Following dropped, but that might have changed a bit with the patch which also reduced the magnitude of the Legend points for gun damage.

The Following also adds a few new shotguns. There's a pump-action Hunting Shotgun, and a couple of Semi-Automatic shotguns.

Incendiary arrows have consistently been absolutely useless at all points. The other arrows are much better. I've used Electric arrows, for instance, to stun a pair of Rais's thugs, then quick-swapped to normal arrows to headshot them before they could open fire and alert other enemies.
Explosive arrows are hilarious and awesome. The Flammable Liquid blueprint I think I've seen from the safe house merchant at the Taurus gas station near the Stuffed Turtle.

Good to know about the blueprints. I've tried other special arrows and they seem pretty good.

It's a shame that fire arrows are so useless because the moment I jumped off the cliff after starting The Following and found my first zombie-infested field, Farcry 2 popped into my head and all I've wanted to do since then is light the fields on fire and watch all the zombies burn. I guess I'll just have to settle with running them over.

The bozak bow used to have a longer range before the following update. They changed it so that the crossbow was for long range.

i have a guestion is there a button for changing fire mode from semi auto to single shot? i ask cause at first my seni automtic shotgun was automtic when i got it from shop new i got to sektor zero & its suddenly single shot, i don't mind it, but is it a bug or did i change the fire mode without knowing it?

also about arrows, incinerating arrows seem to be the crappiest (even Molotov's are better), first in top 3, explosive is second & electric is 3th cause electric u can use atleas for disabeling enemys for short time, i do better with mellee & guns, well i do better even with normal arrows, electric arrows can be usefull in some places so they are bit usefull atleast, but the other 2 is waste of Arrows & money, they should fix it, also i feel like incinerating & explosive arrows became even more crappier after i got all DLC'S & upgraded to enhanced edition

i do wish i could reset few legebdary points, i discoverd that HP upgrade is pointless, it gives so little, more usefull to upgrade weapons
