How to kill chargers?
Hammer bros can be shot in the face.
Spitters can be shot or pulverized.
Boomers can be avoided.
Volatiles can be dealt with however you like.

What to do about chargers?
Melee is ovbiously dangerous, they don't mind being set on fire, and they somehow have enormous helmets so they can't be shot in the face.
Anyone had results with different damage types? Maybe arrows or grenades?

Maybe theres a helmet factory I can destroy

just keep shooting them

LOL, your enemy names are funny, but way off. The ones you're calling "Chargers" are "Demolishers". I usually just get in a safe spot and keep shooting their armor with my shotgun and police rifle. Once it's broken they take a lot of damage.

The one in The Pit of course has to be dealt with using melee and throwing weapons. Just find all the rebar you can and jump attack him from atop a container until you break his armor. Then use the machete to finish him off.
well, theres one on The Following dlc i wasnt able to kill, even after wasting all my ammo on his head, but the second one on the impossible quest aka Radio Boy, my friend kept shooting arrows at his face and i think he used a pistol too, then we just hit them with everything in the head, but yeah, they are very hard to kill, especially if u're playing singleplayer.

I've never had any trouble killing them, even on Nightmare. Or any Freaks for that matter. Some just take a little longer than others. The reason it's different for some I think, is it obviously depends how powerful of weapons you find.

The upgraded crossbow can usually penetrate his helmet, but in others scenarios you can use the semi aautomatic shotgun.

This just in, Kurt's bombs are quite effective, downing them with just 2-3 hits.
The other grenades didn't seem to do much, and I'm not gonna dump ammo on them.

Re: Naming, I'm gonna call them chargers bc thats what they do.
This game is like if Skyrim played like Mirrors Edge in an Assassins Creed world with Left 4 Dead enemies, the Just Cause grappling hook, and Thief-style looting.
I'm not worried about originality here

Not bad, but compared to the 1500 damage shotgun I got early on, it doesn't compare. Early in the game it helps to spend a LOT of time scrounging for good stuff.

The solution to your problem is a single cross bow bolt to the head. Even on nightmare it's a one hit kill. Now the freaks of nature..they require several more bolts, but every freak I've encountered has had an area where you can basically not get hit by there attacks as long as you choose to. So long as you're not trying to melee the enemies you probably shouldn't melee, it's not so bad.
