Friend can't gift me dying light the following enhanced edition

So I bought Dying light as a seperate game a couple of months ago. Now my friend realised he had another copy of dying light the following enhanced edition in his inventory, but he can't gift it.

I read that the normal dying light game was removed.. And because of that I also have the enhanced following edition, but without the following(!?).

Why can't he gift it? Is there a possibility to do it? Since I don't own the following..

Hmm, maybe you should try to remove the game from your library so he can gift it.

Though this is just an idea which I'm not entirely sure it'll work, and it's kinda risky.
