1) Because as Stabby said, there is a way of using the bow without the problems you are complaining about.
2) The penetration is intended, the arrows don't disappear. They might go farther than you think, but the don't disappear.
My reading comprehension is fine. Your mentality is weird. You complain about the DRAGON BOW, then go talking about how you prefer the regular bow.
Well? whats the problem? Go use the regular bow. These events offer "gifts" more than they offer "upgrades". Sure the bow is stronger, but generally techland try to keep things grounded. They want people doing challenges for fun, they adds these little incentives to make it worth the effort(why hunt 5 demo's otherwise?). The strongest weapons in the game are still mainly in the base game itself.
Some people don't have DLC bows. Dragon bow functions in a similar capacity to Harran/Bozaks, basically offering people a small window to get a DLC bow for free. Sounds like a good deal to me. Some people have complained about "disappearing arrows", until they learn that they penetrate zombies and fly through. No one complains about the sights.
It doesn't matter how you think things SHOULD work, this is how they work. Techland is unlikely to address the issue, adapt or go back to regular bow.
It does matter how people think something should work especially when they go out of their way to do an event to get a superior bow. Its not superior to the regular bow and that is obvious, just because you think its not a problem those who use the AIM function like myself think it is and it makes the bow much less valuable.
Why don't you go and kiss the devs behinds some more you have had your say here and basically have said that anyone who doesn't agree with you can get bent.
But all you can do is say I am a dev fanboy when you complain over something that is neither hard or unintentional. Penetration is INTENDED.
You call other people "dev lovers" when you are acting like a fussy child.
"OH GOD, I SET MY SLEEVE ON FIRE!!!"
"DUDE, STOP, DROP AND ROLL!"
"Um, I pay taxes for a reason. putting out fires is not my business, it is the fire departments. I should not have to put out a fire myself just because they are lazy and refuse to be here the second I am on fire to put me out."
You have a problem, we gave you a solution. You spat in our faces, and threw a tantrum and continue to do so. You are the only person to complain about this. Just because you think it is broken does not mean it is.
I have NEVER told ANYONE to get bent.
What I will say however, stop being a baby.
Still wondering what the real issue is, because I got the bow during the event and immediately began using it. I found it intensely better than the common bow I had, in every aspect.
Aimed, not aimed... works wonders. I always pick up my arrows after the fight. Not losing arrows any faster than with the normal bow.
I even stood up on a roof, and shot down some destroyers with 2-shots (one to bust their helmet, the second took em down) with it. The arrows were stuck in the ground behind the body.
So, whats the big negative with the dragon bow vs the common bow???
With Dragon´s Breath, one arrow in the head, one dead ... Which means you're not pointing right at the head or you are not pressing and holding the attack button to full draw, to make the shot get its maximum power. Even the big zombies when you have legend points in archery dies with one shot.
The arrows do not disappear, two things happen:
1.- The arrow ricochet and falls near the zombie´s corpse.
2.- Most of the time it happens that when the zombie is shot in the head the body falls and turns upside down and the arrow is facing the other side. You kick the body to turn in another position and recover your precious arrow (they are cheap to buy or manufacture, in any case).
Both things happen mostly when you shoot from above. If you are on the same level, you can clearly see the arrow where it should be.
I hope this helps, regards.
It's too hard to aim by slightly moving the mouse, apparently.
I have the same issue, i don't insta kill zombies with a headshot. And regarding the arrows, they don't disapear (not all of them). The majority of times arrows travel in straight line, and you can found them with your survival sense. Do a little experiment: get on top of a car and shoot an arrow on a zombie. You'll see it has travelled straight and is on the floor or the wall, as if it penetrated the zombie without changing its route. It's all i can do for you.
Are you playing on Nightmare difficulty?
Zoomed aim is intended for the arrow to penetrate and end up, sometimes, a bit far. If there's nothing to stop the arrow on the trajectory, consider the arrow lost. It can also ricochet on things like helm or round elements if they happen to be on the trajectory after it went through the target. Aiming from top to bottom is the most efficient way to retrieve arrows easily.
On Nightmare, bows will only be that efficient if enough points have been put in the legend tree. It will happen a bit more often that it does not one shot and it's definitely tied to the increased health points of ennemies: a shot not exactly centered will still go through/end up in the head but you then have a funny walking corpse with an arrow ^^
OP clearly didn't have to be so condescending and request a dev just because he doesn't like that mechanic. It works as intended, as long as no proof has been provided to imply it could be a glitch specific to that player. If the need really arise, Techland's adress is not steam forums.
Arrows that are stuck in zombies can clip through the terrain, and will often require a bit of kicking to reveal. You can always use a crossbow, if you wish to aim and not have the projectile penetrate the zombies.
Thank you for that great explanation, instead of ripping people you gave clear and detailed information. I certainly will use the xbow instead of the "special" bows as I don't see a benefit.
To the rest that ripped me, this was all I wanted to know. I thought my game was bugged and instead of helping you had to be jerks. I still don't see how these "special" bows are better, sound like a real pain to use and again because someone wants to do things differently than you do does not make them wrong, what is wrong is attacking people for that difference. I appreciate all those who truly cared about just helping like Dryden here. More people like him please, less people like Stabby and Twinkietoes.
Thank you
