Abnormally high CPU usage
I've tried the previous beta version and the last one - the issue seems to persist nonetheless. The game just takes a bit too much CPU

I'm using a i3 10100, a CPU that by 2015 standards is like one of the top tier ones

Yet I'm sitting at constant 50+% usage with my FPS locked to 75 only

I've seen a couple of videos on YT and people with the very same CPU with unlocked FPS sit around 30-50%, much lower than me

The other issue is that after some time has passed in the game, it starts taking even more CPU, all the way up to 100%, I start dropping below 75 fps all the time which just shouldn't ever happen

Is the issue within windows and my CPU or is it within the game? I've tried setting the affinity to high/very high, but it doesn't help

Setting the game to perform on a single core through task manager makes the game crash

I've tried all graphics options, doesn't matter

Latest patch corrupted a whole optimization even further with new bugs & really harsh issues such as: Yellow string textures in the prison heist. The only thing that can restore old optimization of the game, is installation 1.47.2 patch that is last stable update of the game. It's like Techland decided to install PC-Killer called itself: "DENUVO" in DL1 as well.

I tried both patches like I said, and in that last beta available my CPU usage is the same. I don't see anything out of the ordinary with the latest patch in singleplayer

Have you updated your Windows 10 build? If yes, then it is another reason why DL1 may encounter more issues. Everything may happen by updating OS that is so unstable because of rushed updates that wasn't checked properly before releasing them through Windows Update. I'd suggest you downgrade to max 20H2 version. I'm using Windows 10 1803 build and I have smaller problems with this game.

I have literally the same issue.100% CPU usage, heavy stuttering and generally trash performance.Mine is i3 9100f so not very different from yours

there must be smth wrong with the game itself I bet, I have tried both beta and latest version, can't seem to do anything, even setting DL in task manager to high priority or adjusting how many cores it can use
I downraded the game to previous version but still it's eating 100% CPU and stuttering like crazy...I dunno what to do
Is it just trash optimization?

Yes, a whole optimization of this game is really broken, since you may experience audio-stutters either.

strangely I don't have audio stutters, just very unstable frametime ony any ingame settings
itis playable but feels bad
and the CPU fan is loud AF since it gets 100% loaded by the game alone

is audio stutters in relation to high cpu usage?

I think it's mostly triggered by some processors or graphics card. I'm not sure what's the main reason of existence this issue since I encountered this problem once I purchased the game.
I think I finally figured out how to decrease CPU load and reduce stuttering.Drop the draw distance to 0,literally.It won't make the image noticably different, but will reduce CPU load and severely decrease microfreezes(but not completely). The optimization is total trash, even the 1.72.something version is lagging AF despite high FPS.But still CPU sage is abnormal and progressively goes up as soon as you see more zombies on the screen.Heck the optimization is insanely bad,I can run Far cry 5 on my potato of a PC at stable 60fps ultra settings without any stuttering and the graphics look 3x more detailed and complex. This Techland company doesn't know how to optimize games...

I think Techland just downright ruined smth with some updates they did. Like, my GPU is using way too much VRAM, like over 5 gb, how is that even possible? I see all these old benchmarks on YT and the game takes like 3-4 gb, I don't even have all settings maxxed out so 5gb actually makes no sense. Either my MSI Afterburner is lying to me or smth actually happened to the game itself. I have the same issue in both versions (present and beta) that we have available

No idea, I'm also curious how the hell does a 2015 game require so much VRAM,mine has 3gb and I never had any issues with newer games and maxed out textures.Far cry 5's max textures consume less than 3gb and look absolutely great.I can't believe how I have so bad performance when old benchmarks show over 80fps on maxed out settings and no noticeable stutter on a 3gb card.Heck, back in 2015 people played this on gtx500 cards and didn't have such problems... Something definitely was screwed up with one of the updates and certainly NOT the latest since the previous version stutters on my PC as well.No difference from the latest version in fact.I can't describe how I hate when the game is stable at the release, but the devs decide "uhhh let's sell some gun& character skins and other useless trash and create a new platinum edition with all the trash included" and break the optimization in this process...And even worse they don't care to fix stuff or can't because of their spaghetti code
