Game runs like crap

want to finish this game from my backlog, but the game runs like complete butt on my rx 580 and i5 11400 16gb rams.
keeps dipping to 30-20 fps randomly....

W10, AMD Ryzen 3 3200G, 8GB Ram, MB Prime A320M-K, Nvida G-Force 1650, installed on HDD (not the SSD).

Runs fine at 86 FPS. Considering I played this on the PS4 30FPS five times happy with anything over 60 FPS.

Most games are still designed to run correctly HDD's because of how common HDD's still are. The same can be said for the RX 580 and GTX 1060. Anything beyond RTX 2060 is high end. Most people just don't need better or can't afford better, and developers know this.

False, if you can't run Dying Light on your PC then you won't be able to run any other AAA game from 2015 properly. It's one of the most optimized games in my library, the only ones that run better are the 2D ones and those which don't really have any advanced graphics.

I'm going to buy this game now ... I tried the "green" version to see its performance and it runs at a fixed 60fps.

That's fairly impressive for a FX series tbf. They weren't the best but they were cheap and cheerful at the time.

So you have an aging relic too, probably have to play AC at lowest possible settings! If your relic hasn't started failing yet, it will. Especially since you have it overclocked.

You are attempting to defend a 5 year old graphics card that is extremely SUB-par at absolute best. I love seeing kids like you try to defend your old aging relic cards because their too damned poor to afford upgrading. You don't need a doctorates in computer science to know that having a 5 year old extremely sub-par graphics card will yield sub-par performance as a result. I would know because I have a PhD in CSE.

A Playstation has better hardware in it than your dinosaur... That's just sad dude.

Sorry, but if you think DL has good optimization then you haven't played much games. Optimization is awful but if you have a good card you won't have any issues like OP with his bad potato GPU.

Why are you making baseless, incorrect assumptions in what I use my 3090 for?

1) You don't know what games I play
2) You don't know what resolution I use (8k)
3) You don't know what other applications & projects I use my card for.

A graphics card is used for much more than simply gaming... hah.

The RX 580 should deliver about 60-70 FPS, sometimes more or less, at max settings, no NVIDIA settings, at 1080p. If this isn't the case, then it's because of his modified drivers. If SuperBeasto has neglected to mention he is trying to play at 1440p, then that's probably why he is dropping to 20-30 FPS frequently.

He is in-fact trying to play in 1440p, he mentioned it a few posts up amongst other times.

You're not wrong on low-med settings. for 720 or 1080 yeah it's fine for some relatively recent games but the performance won't be great. The fact of the matter is the gpu is ~5 years old & is subject to failure & performance degrading due to many variables, namely the fact that he has it overclocked.

AMD cards from around that time-frame are more subject than others to failure and performance degrading. I've had a lot of those cards come in to be serviced for poor performance & bottom line is its just old hardware.

Some basic stress testing & thermal sensor monitoring is all you really need to do to find out why that card is under performing. Judging by OP's replies though, he has neither the knowledge or motivation to do that as he's rejected every logical suggestion thus far.
