Sadly, the specs don't matter, laptop GPUs are not officially supported and there seems to be more issues with the 20xx and 30xx series than any others.

Maybe there is something in my quoted post that just might help.

Some of this might help, who knows, the short answer is that laptop cards are not supported.

Hey, I'm not sure if you fixed this problem yet LU-C4 but I have the exact same graphics card and processor as you on my laptop. Game runs great sometimes on max settings, 60+ (60 - 100) at all times when it works. Other times it can drop as low as literally 8 fps. No settings change, often when reloading the game.

I believe I've been able to consistently boil down what the issue is though. Tried studio mode, didn't work for long and hardly any improvement. It seems to be some kind of allocation issue. The game is not requesting enough power from the GPU and CPU for whatever reason, as if it's running the game as a background app.

I've been able to consistently get it to max performance always above 60 FPS on max settings (max view distance, nvidia shadow PCS, very high shadow mapping, 90 FOV, everything) by making the game "inactive" for a moment. It resets the allocation fields and begins to request processing power properly.

I've been able to achieve this in one of two ways, sometimes needing both methods.

1. Alt + Tab and go to different windows and open apps (like MSI Dragon Center for example) then return to game. Cycle that a few times and voila, constant 60+ FPS. The fact that it has to be cycled multiple times before it functions is the only problem. It works until game is entirely closed and reloaded (in my experience)

2. This method is slightly harder to explain (why I didn't lead with it) but after testing, has proven better results. When hitting the window key and clicking one of the apps open in the taskbar, the game will show a white border and next to "Dying Light" in the top corner it will say in parentheses, (inactive). Keeping it in that state for a few seconds I can literally see the fps jump from 20 fps all the way up to 120. If it doesn't, I simply click the app I want to switch into, after keeping the cursor on it for a second until seeing the preview of the app. I usually only have to repeat this 2-3 times before I'm able to play constant 60+ until I close the game. No need to change settings, no priority change, nothing.

That method may require the game to be in fullscreen but borderless windowed mode (max size) may work as well. All I know is I've been fiddling with this for the past 10 hours today and that's the only thing that's given me some consistency.

If you have anything you'd like to add, I'm all ears but this is what I've seen work more often than not. Hope it helps.

Other things laptop users have had occasional success with is running the game as Administrator. Running the game in Borderless mode. Using the Nvidia Studio Ready driver instead of the Game Ready one.

i found a fix for me :

1- set refresh rate of my laptop screen at 60 fps - Right clic on desktop - Display parameter - scroll down to advances display parameter and set to 60 ( and not 144 in my case )
2- Put the game in borderless full screen
3- Deactivate V-sync and put the game at 60 fps ( but you can try with vsyn on
4- Set distance view to 1/4 in graphic parameter
5- Deactivate all nvidia ♥♥♥♥ in graphic parameter
4- Run riva tuner and msi and check for fps

run's steady 60 fps in all situation, no frames drop notices since yhen

Here's what I found. You can try it on your laptop:
- Right click on battery icon and open Battery Power supply preferences
- choose High Performance profile (if you don't have it, you have to create one)
After that I'm being able to play over 60 fps with all game options turned on (except nvidia ones and vsync). For 30 min of playing I didn't notice any sudden fps drop.
Give me feedback if it works on your devices

UPDATE: it's been working smoothly for about an hour, then I've got unexpected low fps issue (under 20 fps), but this lag lasts for ~5-10 minutes and everything is smooth again.

I am not going to go indepth like in other threads. I am sure people can click and read those posts if they want more info.

Basically, it has nothing to do with the performance of your gpu as such. There is simply some weird engine bug, where the game is having issues with some mobile chipsets. The problem is there does not appear to be a common denominator other than they are mobile versions of gpu's Some are working fine, others (as pointed out it seems to be more the newer gpus's ) are randomly having problems for no apparent reason.

As they cannot track the issue down, they simply do not support laptop gpu's.

Additional Notes: Laptop versions of graphics cards may work but are NOT officially supported.

They do warn you right on the store page to basically not buy the game if you are playing on a laptop as they are not supported.

Now why they cannot tack down and fix the bug is a whole seperate issue, the bottom line though is you should not be playing this on a laptop.
