[Critical Bug] Alienware Command Center Keyboard Lighting FX crash in Dying Light
The way Dying Light interacts with Alienware Command Center Keyboard lighting causes the entire keyboard to go black with no recovery. It happens under a few circumstances.

1. Entering a safezones makes keyboard go black. Exiting the safezone a couple keys light up but then go back to remaining black.

2. Using the flashlight (regardless of what key it is bound to) causes keyboard to go black

3. Being Stunned/Knocked down causes lights to permanently turn off to black.

I can return color to the keyboard by tabbing in and out of the game, but it is very frustrating especially when the lights in the room are dim and the keyboard goes black.

Dell refuses to make a fix where we can disable the interaction between third-party apps interacting with our keyboard lights- so the resolution of this issue is up to the developers of Dying Light to possibly make changes to how the game interacts with RGB. This may be useful to include in future projects.

I have not. Haven't played Dying Light in a while though. Gotta love proprietary software. So far the solution is to not have an Alienware computer.

The computer I built myself (uses an Corsair RBG software) doesn't have this problem both because I can manually disable the interaction and there isn't a problem with the interaction in the first place.

Hopefully Dying Light 2 does not have the same problem.

Having this same problem. Any fix that doesn't involve turning the PC off? I've tried manually changing the color back to its standard scheme, but every time I do, it immediately returns back to red flashing on the keyboard and the light on the PC flickering white, along with the mouse.

Not sure if this helps or not seeing as you had this issue with a keyboard, but I have an alienware PC and the lights on the outside of the case kept changing with actions in the game. I figured out how to turn it off by going to the alienware command center app and (in my case) going to FX, then the settings, then misc and turning off the "AlienFX API" setting. I know it isn't much help with a keyboard, but maybe it'll help lead you in the right direction? Good luck :)

I have this issue and found a solution for turning it on without turning off the computer. Open the Alienware Command Center and just hit the FX tab, it will turn the lights back on. unfortunately they will continue going off during gameplay.

Sorry for necro-ing, but i was getting so frustrated with DL2 messing with my keyboard and PC (both Alienware), and disabling AlienFX API has done it for me.
Keyboard was going dark and then randomly lighting up small sections one by one, until it was fully lit, and then dark again, rinse and repeat; the PC was just dark the whole time. As soon as I turned it off, both went back to what I had them set to originally.

I have a dell G5 SE laptop. Every time i play dying light 2 the keyboard starts flickering green in no pattern, just random flickering. then if i exit the game the keyboard backlight doesnt work anymore. even if i restart my pc or shut it down, when i turn it back on it doesnt work. In a few months it will randomly start working again. Updated all drivers and bios. Could be alienware command center but i tried everything.
