I can jump foward and use my mouse to look in any direction. Guess i don't understand, like what do you want the "extra button" to do?
That is easy for the programmers to assign that feature to a key so it is an option to use it, not automatically even when you don’t want to use it.
My motto: Remove the head, scoop out the brain!
I might switch my game to Nightmare mode for this reason. I'm just afraid of breaking any rewards. But dammit I'll pay good money for shotgun ammo
Increasing difficulty doesn't break rewards, only decreasing it does or joining other players.
Yeah, no ammunition, orange rarity weaponry and no materials on Hard mode is really the worst thing about it, otherwise it's perfect when it comes to overall difficulty.
The Nightmare brings back combat stamina and some of the Agility moves also drain stamina, despite the final skills which grant you infinite stamina. Making stamina boosters extremely useful for melee based gameplay.
On Nightmare mode you'll definitely need bows and crossbows, these are extremely powerful with Legend skill-tree ranks. 25 points into Bows skill adds 1,000% damage to bows and crossbows.
If you are going to focus on melee, you'll need orange or Gold-tier rarity weapons, upgraded and crafted. Assuming you reach 100% story on Nightmare Game +, this is when zombies become most tough and resilient to kill.
If you mean volatiles, no they don't come out at day, but night lasts far longer on Nightmare mode.
Here's all the rest of the Hard and Nightmare mode changes.

Dang you're in it for the long haul lol
I normally do my 1st playthroughs on a harder mode for fear of the game being too easy. But DL handles it pretty awesome for the most part.
I'm planning to do another run either New Game+ Hardmode w/o HUD
Or nightmare.
The option to turn the HUD off in-game is just one of those details that make it great. Makes an awesome difference.
And increasing to Nightmare, then back down to Hard?
Like OP, I really only want ammo. I wanna save a true Nightmare run for another playthrough or HUD-less
Absolutely fine. I have done this and got Hard mode rewards. It will only break if you downgrade it to Normal if you're going for Hard mode rewards. Increasing to Nightmare and then downgrading to Hard won't affect rewards.
