Is there a way to turn off the STUPID run up wall?
Is there a way to turn off the STUPID run up wall? It kills me on a regular basis! I run to escape the infected and I jump to a ledge, but the STUPID run up way starts and runs up the wall past the ledge I was trying to grab. Then is just slides back down like the characters finger just fell off! It is a nonfunctional POS!!

No, you just have to learn how it works and then it'll actually become useful. Don't press Space repeatedly, just press it once and hold if you know that you'll hit wall. You can cancel it with grapple. Or just look left or right and jump.

You cant look any other way than the direction you want to jump. There need to be an extra button for this. Making it automatic just screws up the parkour!

Get used to it, it's not the end of the world and pretty useful once you master it, especially in timed challenges.

I believe we just walked through this in a recent thread. Look back and go over it for tips, etc..

If this topic was in a previous thread, the steam thread search engine could not find it. Of course, I’m not surprised, they cannot even include a spell checker.

I can jump foward and use my mouse to look in any direction. Guess i don't understand, like what do you want the "extra button" to do?

Don’t you hit a button to jump? It should then require you to hit the same again or a different button to run up the wall. I use enter key to jump. The button above the enter button on my keyboard is backslash. So in order to run up the wall; I hit enter to jump followed immediately by backslash to run up the wall. Then if I only want to jump up the wall I only hit enter. To run up the wall I hit enter then backslash quickly.

That is easy for the programmers to assign that feature to a key so it is an option to use it, not automatically even when you don’t want to use it.

do you use your mouse at all for this game? For me, I treat this game as if it's a FPS like WSAD to move, spacebar to jump, Left Shift to sprint, C button for crouch( alot of people use Left-Control button, i find it easier to press L-Shift then C button to slide). I just have never heard of pressing enter to jump is all. For me, Left-Hand is keyboard buttons and Right-Hand is mouse buttons.

I use mouse look. The directional arrows are for forward, back, slide left, slide right, enter-jump, right shift-crouch, keypad 0-sprint, and spacebar-reload. I use the keypad for various controls. My left hand is always on directional arrows, my right hand on mouse. I do head shots while jumping. I get 80-90% head shots. Most dead bodies have no head! That is, until I run out of ammo! Playing on hard mode sucks, for some stupid reason they thought it would be a good idea not to sell you any ammo. I heard they start selling it again in insane mode. Does not make any sense to me....

My motto: Remove the head, scoop out the brain! :steamhappy:

I might switch my game to Nightmare mode for this reason. I'm just afraid of breaking any rewards. But dammit I'll pay good money for shotgun ammo

Increasing difficulty doesn't break rewards, only decreasing it does or joining other players.

I like to play every game in easy first then progress through each difficulty until I get stopped If they make it impossible. They do that allot for some stupid reason. If they make the game really well, it is almost like you’re playing a different game each time. This game is doing great so far except the no ammo bit. The infected are everywhere in hard mode compare to normal mode. How bad is nightmare? Do they have hunters during the day?

Yeah, no ammunition, orange rarity weaponry and no materials on Hard mode is really the worst thing about it, otherwise it's perfect when it comes to overall difficulty.

The Nightmare brings back combat stamina and some of the Agility moves also drain stamina, despite the final skills which grant you infinite stamina. Making stamina boosters extremely useful for melee based gameplay.

On Nightmare mode you'll definitely need bows and crossbows, these are extremely powerful with Legend skill-tree ranks. 25 points into Bows skill adds 1,000% damage to bows and crossbows.

If you are going to focus on melee, you'll need orange or Gold-tier rarity weapons, upgraded and crafted. Assuming you reach 100% story on Nightmare Game +, this is when zombies become most tough and resilient to kill.

If you mean volatiles, no they don't come out at day, but night lasts far longer on Nightmare mode.

Here's all the rest of the Hard and Nightmare mode changes.

Dang you're in it for the long haul lol
I normally do my 1st playthroughs on a harder mode for fear of the game being too easy. But DL handles it pretty awesome for the most part.
I'm planning to do another run either New Game+ Hardmode w/o HUD
Or nightmare.
The option to turn the HUD off in-game is just one of those details that make it great. Makes an awesome difference.

And increasing to Nightmare, then back down to Hard?
Like OP, I really only want ammo. I wanna save a true Nightmare run for another playthrough or HUD-less

Absolutely fine. I have done this and got Hard mode rewards. It will only break if you downgrade it to Normal if you're going for Hard mode rewards. Increasing to Nightmare and then downgrading to Hard won't affect rewards.
